  1. Game and second set - Stephenspublished at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 6-2 Raducanu

From losing the first set in only 17 minutes, it has been a superb recovery from Sloane Stephens.

We're going all the way here.

It was looking easy for Emma Raducanu earlier on, but she faces a deciding set.

  2. 'Impressive turnaround from Stephens'published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 5-2 Raducanu

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Raducanu is playing a solid match but Stephens has lifted her level to being a completely different player than we saw in the first set.

It's so impressive how she managed to turn this around.

  3. 'Stephens could have tested Raducanu earlier'published at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 5-2 Raducanu

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Stephens has a bit of a habit of having slow starts. Raducanu played a perfect first set and Stephens couldn't get herself in it.

If she had arrived on the court warmed up and ready to go, she could have tested Raducanu more than she has.

  4. Stephens gets the double break and is serving for the setpublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 5-2 Raducanu

Some emotion shown from Stephens as she pulls a forehand into the corner with Raducanu left standing to bring up a break point and then followed that up by drawing the error from the Briton, who goes long.

Stephens now in complete control of this set and will serve for the set.

  5. Postpublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

A brutal forehand from Stephens, giving it everything she had, and it is in for a break point for the American, this to go 5-2 up and serve for the set.

    Stephens 0-6 4-2 Raducanu*

Both players are really having to earn every point now. It looked like being one-way traffic in the first set, but this has been a very impressive recovery from Stephens, showing the determination and talent that saw her win the 2017 US Open.

Remember we talked about patience being required with Raducanu? This is where it applies.

Raducanu hardly missed a shot in the first set. In this set the unforced errors have been flying off her racquet.

Needs a moment to breathe and regain clarity of thought, I think.

  8. 'Stephens hanging in there'published at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 4-2 Raducanu*

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's a really good point from Stephens. Hung in there and played so many backhands cross-court forcing Raducanu to go for an extremely short angle.

  9. Postpublished at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 4-2 Raducanu*

Stephens held a two-game lead earlier in this set at 2-0 and is two up again, now at 4-2.

A looping forehand from the baseline from Raducanu just went over the net but was wayward, Stephens then shows some great defence in a brilliant rally, before the American can punch a two-handed backhand winner away.

  10. Postpublished at 12:03 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 3-2 Raducanu

Emma Raducanu has made 17 unforced errors in this match, with 15 of them coming in this second set.

  11. Stephens regains the break advantagepublished at 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 3-2 Raducanu

That will be massively frustrating for Emma Raducanu as she had done the hard work to get back into the set after losing the opening two games.

But Sloane Stephens then regains control with a loose forehand zooming out from Raducanu and the American regains the advantage in the second set.

  12. Postpublished at 11:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Stephens had a half-chance at 0-30, and after Raducanu looks to have recovered, Stephens gets a break point.

  13. Raducanu breaks backpublished at 11:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 2-2 Raducanu*

Stephens saved the first two break points, but an unforced error gives Raducanu a chance.

The American misses with a backhand volley and Raducanu has dragged us back on serve in the second set. She lost the opening two games of the set, but has won the next two.

  14. 'Making the extra ball'published at 11:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 2-1 Raudcanu

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

We always talk about the Raducanu ball strike but am really impressed with how well she is moving tonight.

Because she is making the extra ball all the time, Stephens is almost overplaying her shots.

Such positive play from the Brit.

  15. Postpublished at 11:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 1-2 Raducanu

Stephens nets and Raducanu has a couple of break-back points.

  16. Postpublished at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 1-2 Raducanu

Can Raducanu get the break back? She makes a good start with the opening two points off the Stephens serve, 0-30.

  17. Postpublished at 11:48 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Stephens 0-6 1-2 Raducanu

After two games for the American in a row, Emma Raducanu does well to stop her building any momentum with a hold to 15 after her previous service game went to deuce five times and lasted more than 10 minutes.

  18. Tsitsipas battling in second setpublished at 11:47 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    *Tsitsipas 6-2 3-2 Ymer

After a straightforward first set, fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas has been pushed a little harder by Mikael Ymer.

The Swede took a 2-0 lead before Tsitsipas hit back, eventually converting his fifth break point to drag things back to level pegging.

In fact, Tsitsipas has just reeled off three games in a row to take the lead.

  19. 'Stephens packs a real punch'published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 2-0 Raducanu*

    Gigi Salmon
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra tennis commentator at Melbourne Park

Stephens is very laid back - easy power, almost laissez-faire, but she can pack a real punch.

  20. Postpublished at 11:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Stephens 0-6 2-0 Raducanu*

Sloane Stephens, after the break in the opening game of the second set, then consolidates that by holding her serve and Raducanu, for the first time in this match, is under a bit of pressure.
