I could murder a nice hot chocolate now JJ.
Fine work from Djokovic, cross-court backhand, hard forehand... smash. It brings up 40-15 and then a great serve only affords Rafa the chance to fire too long.
A solid hold. If such a thing exists in this.

After two opening sets which combined lasted longer than the latest Tarantino flick, a few of the crowd decided to nick off court.
Not sure Roland Garros does popcorn, though. Maybe a hot chocolate was on the menu.
Whatever, it meant that there wasn't the usual passionate response to a key moment in favour of the beloved Nadal.

Djokovic has lost all sense of conviction here. He's now puffing heavily and is unhappy with one or two shouts from the crowd.

Rafa Nadal picks a ball up early and guides it home. He skips, clenches both fists and celebrates. He's made the break count by holding.

This is not what was in the script for Djokovic. It looks like he lost his focus there a bit after expending so much energy in trying to get that second set.
Djokovic 2-6 6-4 0-1 Nadal
Djokovic goes long and he's been broken to love in the opening game of the third set.
Another twist!
Djokovic 2-6 6-4 0-0 Nadal
Nadal starts the third set brilliantly and moves to 30-0 on Djokovic's serve.
Nadal makes Djokovic stretch on the run and very quickly it's 40-0.

Djokovic is pushing Nadal further and further behind the baseline, and Nadal is becoming more defensive. That's a big change-up.

Djokovic puts his hand to his ear as if to say 'come on, let's hear it for me!'
Djokovic 2-6 6-4 Nadal
Dig your trench my friends. We're level at 1-1.
The stamina we will need is fitting as these two are serving up a classic.
Nadal pumps a forehand long, Djokovic has come from two breaks down in this second set to take it. He just walks to his chair, stealthy, like some kind of undercover spy.
Inside he must be doing cartwheels.
Djokovic 2-6 5-4 Nadal*
The noise it's making off the Djokovic racquet... dear me. Set point two for him now after another brilliant length on a forehand forces an error...

Barely been any routine holds of serve in the whole match.
By my maths, there has been just three holds to love: Djokovic for 2-1 in the first, Nadal for 5-1 and then Nadal again for 2-0 in the second.
Not many to 15 either.
Djokovic 2-6 5-4 Nadal*
Rafa Nadal just stays in the rally. He stays and he stays and he stays until his rival goes long.
Deuce.

Everything is coming out of the sweet spot of Djokovic's racquet now.
Djokovic 2-6 5-4 Nadal*
Wonderful length from Novak Djokovic. Firstly he sends a ball onto Nadal's toes and the Spaniard can't get enough on it. Then he gets his man on the move and has the time to pick a spot for a winner with the forehand.
It's 30-30.

Just when you feel like you get a read of what's going to happening, something miraculous comes off either player's racquet.
It feels like Djokovic is gaining confidence and he looks like the fresher player out there. He hasn't spent as much time on court and that's got to be a factor here.
