A leaping overhead from Nadal is somehow collected by Zverev who sends one high and that's a tempting smash for Nadal. This time though it's wide and long with a break point for Zverev.

Some quick maintenance work on his racquet from Rafael Nadal in the eighth game of the second set.

You knew Zverev was in bother as soon as you heard the pop of the ball coming off his second serve.

More of a whimper than a wallop.

    *Nadal 7-6 (10-8) 3-4 Zverev

A double fault from Zverev and that's a very costly one as that is a birthday present for Rafael Nadal who gets the break back.

In seven games in this set, six of them have seen breaks of serves. Back on serve in the second.

Zverev will be hoping history does not repeat itself. He was 4-2 up in the first set, then lost in the tie-break. He was 4-2 up in the second, then broken.

    Nadal 7-6 (10-8) 2-4 Zverev*

A brilliant point to keep it alive from Nadal, after Zverev failed to put away two volleys. Nadal then sends one high and Zverev, jumping and spinning can only flick it into the net. Break point for Nadal.

Every game in this match has felt like a mini-drama.

Probably something like Better Call Saul. An intense slow burner with lengthy episodes where you're not sure what the ending will be.

There have only been three games to love - successive holds in the first set, plus that break for Nadal in the opener of the second - and just a couple of games to 15.

    Nadal 7-6 (10-8) 2-4 Zverev*

Zverev blazes a forehand into the corner and there is the break and some daylight. Just as he did in the first set, he leads 4-2.

Casper Ruud and Marin Cilic will be wondering just when will they get their chance?

It's another eight-plus-minute game and once again Zverev holds a break point. We've had four breaks of serve in five games already. Another one coming?

This is some of the best play we have seen from Alexander Zverev.

Break point for Zverev. Nadal yet to hold his serve in this set and is under pressure once more.

A drop shot from Nadal and Zverev doesn't read it and is left nowhere near it. But a waist-high volley from Nadal only finds the net and we're at deuce in game six of set two.

It is muggy and sweaty inside this court. There is no flow of air to help the players out.

Feels like the opening set has left everyone in Chatrier exhausted. A lot of energy expended both on court and in the stands.

For the first time in the second set, we have a hold of set. Alexander Zverev had to work hard for it though as he saw off a break point in an eight-minute game with three deuces.

Sho: Nadal is looking tired I gotta be honest. Completely understandable of course given his last 2 matches lasted a combined almost 9 hours.
