We don't know the extent of Alexander Zverev's injury but the way he went down and the obvious pain he was in could see him miss the rest of this season's Grand Slams.

Nadal is right next to him, walking with him. He's come to shake hands and thank the crowd. What a devastating way for that match to end.

Zverev is on crutches as he comes back into the stadium and gets a great ovation from the fans.
He shakes the umpires hand and also Rafael Nadal's. The match is over. Rafael Nadal is into the French Open final.

It is shocking to hear someone crying out in that pain. It was gut-wrenching to listen to.
You don't see how he can be remotely competiive, even if he feels he's able to come out and run around. I don't see how he can even contemplate coming back out.
We've just seen the incident again and the pictures are sickening as Zverev goes over on his right ankle, with all his weight on it. He instantly screams and was on the ground in a huge amount of pain.

The chair umpire is letting Rafa know that if he wants a full kit change, he should take it now. By the sounds of it, this isn't a retirement from Zverev just yet. They're going to assess him. But he could not put any weight on that foot at all.

We still officially haven't had the end of the match, but Zverev has been taken off the court in a wheelchair. Will he back out there today?
He has been superb and truly played his part in three hours of brilliance.

Zverev is getting a standing ovation. What an extraordinary and very upsetting end to quite an incredible match. That was a really horrible fall.

I'm pretty sure he's rolled his right ankle. They have a wheelchair in the corner of the court already and the physio came straight on.
You need to put weight on it straight away. I have had the same injury before and I was hysterical. It is an awful, awful injury.
Zverev, with a person either side of him, is being helped off the court. He can't put any weight on his ankle. He's now being helped into a wheelchair.

That looked bad as soon as he went down. There's no way he can play any more.
It came as Zverev slipped when trying to send a shot down the line. He went over on his ankle and was instantly screaming.

Oh no...
Zverev has collapsed to the ground and is screaming in agony.
No. This match can't end like this.
Nadal closing in on taking this to another tie break.
Three hours and counting.

The court looks like it has been ripped to shreds. The players have been running all over it.
