    Swiatek 6-1 0-1 Gauff*

I hope this doesn't sound patronising but Coco Gauff's attitude has to be commended. She has not, for one second, shown any panic or even frustration when Swiatek was steamrollering her way through the first set. A lot of players would have let their heads drop.

She starts her latest service game with an ace before a blistering Swiatek winner takes us to 30-15.

Iga Swiatek has won the past eight of the finals she has played.

Looks highly unlikely, at the moment, that Coco Gauff is going to end that record.

Swiatek's serve has improved out of sight in the past year - something that is not talked about enough.

She gets so much power and rotation all at the same time.

She's kept herself remarkably composed, barely a hint of frustration palpable.

The American stars and stripes are well outnumbered by Polish crowned eagles.

But I did manage to spot a couple of Americans showing their national colours.

Richard Comfort has lived in Paris for 40 years, with his daughter Alison flying over from San Francisco.

It couldn't have worked out much better than Gauff reaching the final.

"I think she will do well, she played well in her last match and calm, cool and collected," says Richard.

"She has nothing to lose," adds Alison.

Gauff called for peace and an end to gun violence on the camera after her semi-final win and Richards says it was "great" to see.

"She has great values and it's not all about tennis for her.

"Her grandmother told her to enjoy herself and the players who do well and keep that in perspective, do well in life."

    Swiatek 5-1 Gauff*

The crowd get behind Gauff as she works her way to 15-30 on the Swiatek serve, right before Swiatek swings an unreturnable serve down the T.

Gauff goes one way, Swiatek smacks a huge forehand the other, and from a minor bit of strife, the Pole pings a glorious backhand into the corner to hold.

She's a game away from taking the first set.

Coco is still in the process and she's not letting being 4-0 down bother her - at least we're not seeing it externally.

She gets that first game on the board and she will settle and we will see the match we were expecting.

Sulaimon Adelekan: Coco Gauff has had a fantastic run to the French open final but Iga Swiatek will be to powerful for her. Also Swiatek has been on an impeccable run in finals this year.

    Swiatek 4-0 Gauff*

There's another audible sigh from the crowd as Coco Gauff double faults for 30-30.

Ana Ivanovic, champion here in 2008, is watching on in a fabulous pair of sunglasses. She applauds as Gauff gets to game point before a long backhand takes us to deuce.

Probably say it is only the Polish contingent here which is tipping the support in favour of Swiatek.

    But it is close.

The Chatrier crowd really want to see a contest, of course.

A swell of sympathetic applause for Gauff when she double faulted in the opening game indicated there is a lot of love here for the American.

Thunderous clapping greets that backhand winner down the line which saved the fourth break point in her previous service game.
