This one looks like it's on the last lap. 0-30 on the Ruud serve. Get the engraver. They're going to be needed soon.

Art is an integral part of French culture and that is evident all around Roland Garros.
There are multiple works around the site, including a sculpture of its greatest champion: Rafael Nadal.
Imagine being so good that you have your own statue when you're still playing. Incredible.
Created by Spanish artist Jordi Diez Fernandez, this steel monument stands three-metres high and captures the 13-time men's champion in an iconic pose - whipping away a forehand winner.
The sculpture is placed at the bottom of the stairs when fans enter Roland Garros from one of the main entrances next to Chatrier.
Unsurprisingly, the legions of Spanish fans here today have been queuing up to get a photo next to the steel version of their hero.

Samster F1: If he’s capable of winning the first two Grand Slams of the year then I don’t see why Nadal doesn’t push on with Wimbledon. We’d certainly love to see it. Imaging winning all four Grand Slams in his last year… of course extending his record.

It is one-way traffic. The backhand has impressed me and Nadal has gone from strength to strength. This is what the greats do - he knows he doesn't have to be at 100% to win today.

Ruud had a half chance, but as soon as the door was nudged open, it's slammed in his face. A sliced drop shot at close range only finds net and from 3-1 up in the second, Ruud hasn't won a game since.
Eight games in a row and Nadal has slammed his foot down on the accelerator and is racing away with this one.
In successive shots, Nadal opens up the shoulders and sends sublime forehand winners away with contempt. Beautiful work, 40-30 game point.
Ruud at 15-30 on the Nadal serve. He's not going to get many more half chances. Getting towards now or never time.

Naim Rahman: If Ruud wins from here it will be the single most greatest comeback in ALL sports history.

It can be a fairly lonely place out there, if you are on the other end of a beating.
It feels like the crowd are just here for a moment of history.

Nadal has a route to the finish line. Hold his serve from here on and it's 22 Grand Slams in the trophy cabinet for Rafael Nadal. Two sets up and a break up. One-way traffic.
Ruud leaves a tempter for Nadal as it sits up invitingly and Nadal has the time to dance forward and arrow away a bullet forehand winner for break point, 30-40.

Casper Ruud is bidding to be the first men's player since one Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros in 2005 to compete in his first Grand Slam quarter-final, semi-final and final, and end up lifting to the title, all at the same event.
If he's going to do it, he's going to do it in the hardest way possible

If I was going to be critical of Ruud it would be change my return of serve position. he is so far back he is not giving himself any options.
First time we have seen him shake his head and look a bit downtrodden. He needs to show some emotion and try and the crowd on his side.
By Nadal standards this match is going very quick.
Nadal 6-3 6-3 1-0 Ruud*
No chances for Ruud to get a break in the first game of the third set. Apart from some success early in the first for the Norwegian, Nadal has not had to stress too much when serving.

English Geek 82: If Nadal wins this today, and his foot is really starting to bring him down, could it be the moment to retire? He might win a 22nd but if this foot injury is as bad as it seems it surely means he won’t get 23?
What do you think? Are we going to be hearing a Nadal retirement later today? Should we? Is this the end of an era? Tweet us using #bbctennis with your thoughts.

The trophy is just behind where Nadal is serving from. That trophy could be in Nadal's hands again in the next 30-40 minutes' time. He starts us off in the third set.

The roof's still open and it's a lovely day in Paris. Will this crowd witness an incredible comeback or see Nadal march on to a 14th title from here?

Wounded One: Couldn't disagree further with Nicholas Walker at 15:35 - Nadal's backhand has looked impeccable today short or long - rather he's looked most vulnerable when having to hit forehands on the run/stretch. -Sam

Enticing more people to pick up a racquet is always the aim of tennis bosses.
Outside Court Philippe Chatrier, there are a few areas where fans young and old are aiming to do exactly that.
The emphasis is on fun and enjoying the thrills which knocking a ball can bring - whatever the setting.
