  1. 'Norrie must guard against rushing to finish'published at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2023

    *Norrie 2-3 Lestienne

    David Law
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I hope Cameron Norrie has had a couple of nice espressos - he's going to need them.

He was a bit frustrated at passing up an opportunity to break in the previous game and he will need to guard against rushing to get a decent bed time.

And now Hawkeye Live has had enough of the weather, and they are having to delay because the technology is not working.

  2. Norrie saves another break pointpublished at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2023

    *Norrie 2-3 Lestienne

A stretching Norrie earns the advantage with a sublime forehand down the line, but he puts too much behind a backhand and it's back to deuce.

The next advantage goes Lestienne's way as Norrie notches more and more unforced errors, but we have a slight break in play while the chair umpire tries to deal with dodgy line-calling technology.

Norrie plants a spectacular forehand into the corner to save a third break point and we're at deuce again.

    *Norrie 2-3 Lestienne

Suddenly, the pressure seems to have reversed and it's Cam Norrie under the cosh as Constant Lestienne fights to a 40-15 lead on the Brit's serve, and he has two break points.

The first doesn't go his way, a backhand stopped by the net, and neither does the second as he goes long. A fist pump from Norrie, danger averted...for now.

    Deuce.

    *Norrie 2-3 Lestienne

Errors are starting to creep into Constant Lestienne's play and a double fault - his second so far today - hands Cam Norrie a first break point.

He can't convert it though, slamming a double-handed backhand into the net. Deuce.

Lestienne gets the advantage and Norrie gifts him the hold with a forehand skewed wide.

The Frenchman will be happy to have held on to that one.

    Norrie 2-2 Lestienne*

So far, so good for Cam Norrie. He is yet to drop a point on his serve.

Another love hold in the bag as Lestienne sends a forehand return wide into the tramlines.

    *Norrie 1-2 Lestienne

A beautiful winner off the backhand from Lestienne ends a lengthy rally, the longest of the match so far, in the Frenchman's second service game.

He wraps up the hold to 15 and he's started well against Norrie, who is ranked 43 places higher. Lestienne was outside the world top 200 just 12 months ago.

    Norrie 1-1 Lestienne*

A first ace of the day for Cam Norrie as he storms into a 40-0 lead, before he sends down a second to seal the love hold.

The perfect first service game for the Brit.

    *Norrie 0-1 Lestienne

These two have met before, in Marseille in 2021, with British number one Norrie winning on that occasion in three sets.

This tournament is marking 30-year-old Lestienne's Grand Slam debut, while Norrie is looking to reach the third round of the Australian Open for the second time.

    *Norrie 0-1 Lestienne

Lestienne gets off to a decent start, racing to a 40-0 lead, but Norrie pegs him back, point after point, for deuce.

Lestienne holds with a forehand winner well out of his opponent's reach.

It's 22:15 in Melbourne, it's very dark out on Court 13 and there are barely any bums on seats in the stands.

Penny for Cam Norrie's - the 12th best player in the world - thoughts right now.

    Norrie v Lestienne

It looked as though Norrie wasn't going to hit a ball today as his match got pushed back and back, due to the awful weather in Melbourne today.

But his match with Lestienne has now been moved on to Court 13 to at least get it started. Play cannot continue on the outside courts past midnight local time (13:00 GMT), so this one may stretch into tomorrow's action.

On Rod Laver Arena, men's third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will soon take on Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata. Expect a good atmosphere for that one!

On how she handled the expectation, Coco Gauff said: "At a Grand Slam you have to win seven matches and you have to expect to play the best.

Obviously, you hope it's not in the second round. I'm glad both of us were able to handle the pressure pretty well.

"Kudos to Emma - she had a tough week in Auckland so good for her to be able to play this level after such a scary moment."

On what an 18-year-old does on a day off: "I don't know if I have doubles tomorrow so I don't know what the schedule looks like, so probably playing doubles or playing cards with my parents, or embarrassing them on Tik-Tok."

  19. 'This was a long-anticipated match'published at 10:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2023

Coco Gauff, speaking on court after her win over Britain's Emma Raducanu, was asked about how she came through that match: "I just told myself to hang in there. Emma was playing really good tennis towards the end of the match and honestly the whole match was great.

"In the beginning we both started off rocky but I think the match was good quality for the most part. Considering the circumstances, both of us were nervous.

"This was a long anticipated match since the draw came out so I'm glad the match was good for you guys."
