    *Murray 4-6 0-0 Kokkinakis

Thanasi Kokkinakis left the court after the first set. Maybe it was a toilet break, maybe it was just to get some air from all the excitement on Margaret Court.

Either way, he comes out swinging to make it 0-15 on Andy Murray's serve.

Feels a little bit like deja vu, does this.

Twelve months ago here in Melbourne, Andy Murray lost in the second round with a subdued performance against lower-ranked Japanese player Taro Daniel - two days after a monumental effort to beat his opening-round opponent.

Still a long way to go tonight, mind.

  3. 'Murray not able to execute his game plan'published at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    *Murray 4-6 0-0 Kokkinakis

Murray is very frustrated. You can see that, but there is a long way in this match.

He hasn't been able to execute his game plan to get the ball hard into the Kokkinakis backhand but the Aussie has been keeping the balls short.

    *Murray 4-6 0-0 Kokkinakis

Thanasi Kokkinakis makes no mistake on his second set point.

Andy Murray grips on for dear life in the point but the Australian eventually closes it out.

Murray did win in five sets in the first round, so don't lose hope.

Or maybe there are some nerves... Kokkinakis' backhand hovers a touch long and Murray stays alive, for now.

  6. Three set points for Kokkinakispublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Murray 4-5 Kokkinakis*

No sign of nerves so far. 40-0.

  7. 'Murray will have to hope for a few nerves'published at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

There is going to be a fair amount of stress for Kokkinakis to come and serve it out, he knows that Murray rises to these situations.

The issue is that he has been serving so very well. Once they go through the line they really skid through.

His one-two punch is very good.

Murray will have to hope for a few nerves.

  8. 'Enzo deserves credit'published at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Couacaud 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 2-6 0-6 Djokovic

"A lot happened tonight in tonight's match," Djokovic said in his on-court interview.

"Enzo deserves credit for the fight, he played some great tennis, especially in the second set.

"We both had medical timeouts and struggled a little but, but I managed to respond well in the third and especially the fourth.

On playing Grigor Dimitrov in the third round:

"I haven't played Grigor in many years, I don't think we've ever faced each other here on this court.

"Hopefully it's going to be an entertaining match, I know him really well, we are friends off the court, Balkan brothers. Let the better player win."

  9. Kokkinakis serves for the setpublished at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Murray 4-5 Kokkinakis*

Thanasi Kokkinakis almost seems to go into slow-motion while he's winding up for one of his massive forehands. He whips one to get to 15-0 and prompts Murray to give himself a good telling off.

Even if Murray was at his sharpest then he might struggle to stop some of these forehands which are being fired out of Kokkinakis's racquet.

Almost expect to see a trail of flames behind the ball.

Nine winners from that side so far for the Aussie.

    Murray 4-5 Kokkinakis*

It's all alright in the end. Kokkinakis swings the ball wide and Murray gets his hold.

The Australian will serve for the set next.

    *Murray 3-5 Kokkinakis

Ooft. It looked like it was going to be a straightforward hold for Murray too but Kokkinakis manages to get a big serve back then worms his way into the point, finishing with a flourishing forehand to make it 40-30.

  13. 'Djokovic buys himself another 48 hours'published at 12:07 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Russell Fuller

There is no emotion, no smile on Djokovic's face. It has been quite stressful out there for him.

Concerns remain and have intensified about the hamstring problem but he has bought himself another 48 hours.

    Couacaud 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 2-6 0-6 Djokovic

Oh that was lovely. Couacaud looks beaten as Djokovic brings up two match points on the Frenchman's serve with a delightful drop shot. He needs only one.

Djokovic is through to the third round after an almighty test from the qualifier.

Couacaud did not deserve that bagel.

  15. 'Real issue with the balls - not up to standard'published at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    *Murray 3-5 Kokkinakis

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

There is a real issue with the tennis balls - they are not up to standard and not consistent enough.

  16. Kokkinakis holdspublished at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

Big forehand into the open court, another sharp serve and Kokkinakis holds to love.

The Australian is one game away from taking this first set.

  17. Postpublished at 12:04 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Murray 3-4 Kokkinakis*

Murray makes more grumpy noises as Kokkinakis has the cheek to send him running across the court. The Brit doesn't get there in time and the Australian goes 15-0 up.

Kokkinakis takes a brief pause to complain the the new balls are flat, but makes do with them as he hits a speedy serve to get to 30-0.

  18. Postpublished at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    *Couacaud 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 2-6 0-5 Djokovic

There's almost silence in the stadium as Couacaud nabs the first two points off the Djokovic serve, but an ace and a forehand winner bring the Serb level.

More trouble heads Djokovic's way as he double faults - for the second time in this game - while 40-30 up but he gets the advantage with another ace and a Couacaud error sees the game out.

Djokovic closing in on the next round.

  19. 'Hard for Murray to get any bounce on this court'published at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Murray 3-4 Kokkinakis*

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That was just a rush of blood to the head from Kokkinakis.

Murray wants to get pace on that backhand but it very hard to get any kind of bounce off this court.

  20. Murray holdspublished at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2023

    Murray 3-4 Kokkinakis*

Murray serves a double fault at a less-than-ideal time to lose game point and go back to deuce again.

He immediately gets an ace at a more ideal time to get advantage again then Kokkinakis whacks the ball into the net.

    Everything is FINE.
