It is absolutely extraordinary the standard of tennis from both players, but especially from Murray. If he can get to the ball it is coming off the racquet so well.

He is willing himself on but he is really struggling to walk (between points), but he is sprinting in the rallies.

If you're about to clock off work and clock on to Murray, here's the lowdown.

The Brit is trying to reach the Australian Open third round for the first time in six years.

Murray is playing Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, who is ranked 159th in the world but whose level is much higher than that.

The former world number one already came through a five-set match against Matteo Berrettini to reach this stage - and he has a metal hip don't forget.

Murray was two sets down but has thrilled us all with an incredible comeback to reach this stage. We're in the decider now.

    Oh - and it's 3.30am in Melbourne.

Kokkinakis goes long and Murray goes on.

Murray continues to wins points, but continues to wince too.

It looks like the five-time Australian Open finalist has very little left to give.

Somehow, he pulls out a forehand winner to go 40-15 up anyway.

Has anyone got a greater sheer competitive will than Murray?

If Murray wins this match and I hate to say it but there is no way he is coming back from this one.

But if it's his last match at the Australian Open, well you've got to watch this,

Murray wins the first point on his serve, but his face tells a different story. He winces and puffs out his cheek, as if in pain.

I know we say it a lot, but he has a metal hip remember!

This is one of the great matches and the standard of tennis has been high the whole way through. It has been absolutely phenomenal.

How have they got the energy? I'm on UK time and I'm still exhausted by this match.

The match clock has just passed the five-hour mark and it's approaching 3:30am.

What a supreme test of physical and mental endurance.

Neither player deserves to lose this match.

    Phew.

OK, so we've gone past Johanna Konta's infamous 3:12am finish in 2019.

Now Andy Murray has the dubious honour of being the latest Brit to have played at Melbourne Park.

He will be getting back to his digs when the birds are singing and the commuters are catching the tram.

But... we're still some way short of the latest finish in Australian Open history.

That was a third-round match between Lleyton Hewitt and Marcos Baghdatis in 2008 that ended at 4:34am.

Just more brutal running from Murray. He has run so much in this match. Kokkinakis signalled to his box he was going to run him from side to side and he's done that.

Murray is moving incredibly well considering his legs must be dead.

How does Andy Murray have this much still left in him?!

He sprints to get balls he has no right to reach, left and right, until finally Thanasi Kokkinakis smashes the ball out of reach.

Murray leans over and has a well-earned breather before the next point.

Then Kokkinakis fires an ace past him for 40-0. Harsh.
