It's been a dream start for Jodie Burrage.

With 22 minutes on the clock, the Briton settles a one-sided opening set by breaking Caty McNally for a third time, taking it 6-1.

Can the 24-year-old maintain this dominance in the second set? It's certainly been an impressive showing so far.

Tight in the third set, but how does Cachin make a dent in the Djokovic serve? We're still on serve in the third, but you get the feeling Djokovic is ready to put his foot down on the accelerator, as he has done at the business ends of both the first and second set.

  3. Cachin keeps us on servepublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    Cachin 3-6 3-6 4-4 Djokovic*

    Novak Djokovic is human.

His eyesight fails him as he lets a Cachin forehand go - but it clearly hits the baseline as the Argentine comfortably keeps us on serve in set three on Centre.

    Feliciano Lopez
Former Wimbledon and US Open quarter-finalist on BBC TV

It’s any given Monday morning for Djokovic at Wimbledon. He looks comfortable, composed.

Cachin hasn’t played much on the grass, and that’s something Djokovic probably has in mind.

Liam Broady had to come through a very tricky game for a 5-3 lead, with Constant Lestienne creating two break points in the eighth game.

The Briton kept his composure, and he gets further reward for his efforts as he breaks his opponent to 15 to wrap up the second set.

Two down, one more to go.

  7. Lokoli breaks backpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    *Lokoli 1-6 7-5 2-2 Ruud

It's a thriller on Court One.

I thought Casper Ruud was going to march on but he's immediately broken back.

Laurent Lokoli narrows the angle, coming forward and Ruud's passing attempt drops wide.

  8. 'Ruud trying to be more aggressive'published at 16:50 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

Ruud looks like a man determined not to be the first major scalp of this Wimbledon. He had drifted back to the baseline, the traditional clay-court position, and now he is trying to be a bit more aggressive.

  9. No net gains for Novakpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    Cachin 3-6 3-6 3-3 Djokovic*

Here was that bit of fun we mentioned earlier when Novak Djokovic tippy-toed trying to avoid touching the net (which is an automatic default of the point) but gravity eventually took it course.

Meanwhile, Pedro Cachin produces another impressive service game to hold to 15. The Argentine really has been impressive on his Wimbledon debut - shame for him that he landed the 23-time Grand Slam champion in the draw.

    Lokoli 1-6 7-5 1-2 Ruud*

Strong stuff from Casper Ruud who completely turns this match's momentum on its head, breaking to 15 as Laurent Lokoli slices a backhand wide.

For the first time in a long time, Frenchman Lokoli has let successive errors creep back into his game.

Fourth seed Casper Ruud is quietly wrestling back control.

  11. Burrage double break uppublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    *Burrage 3-0 McNally

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Jodie Burrage has got off to a flyer in this match. Some heavy hitting and very smart tennis means she finds herself a double break up against the American Caty McNally.

She gets a very lucky net cord to bring up a third break point in the third game and sends a forehand to the baseline which McNally stops play to review. She thought it was out…

It wasn’t! Impressive stuff from Burrage, so far.

Burrage hasn't made it past the first round in two previous main draw appearances but she's already given herself a great chance of changing that today.

  12. Kasatkina under way soonpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    Kasatkina v Dolehide

Women’s 11th seed Daria Kasatkina is about to get her first-round match against USA’s Caroline Dolehide under way on Court 18.

She missed last year’s Wimbledon because of the ban on Russian and Belarusian players following the invasion of Ukraine.

But she enters the 2023 event in good form after making the final of Eastbourne last week, which she lost to Madison Keys in straight sets.

  13. Djokovic holds againpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    *Cachin 3-6 3-6 2-3 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic isn't renowned as a big server - but what he is, is unerringly accurate.

The amount of his serves that find the corner of the service box is ridiculous. Even when players can get a racquet on them, they can't get them back, as Pedro Cachin is finding out.

    Another hold for the Serb.

  14. Cachin holds with acepublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    Cachin 3-6 3-6 2-2 Djokovic*

A worry for Pedro Cachin as he's taken to deuce and loses a challenge after sending an attempted winner just wide.

But a big ace seals another welcome hold and we remain on serve in set three.

  18. 'Lokoli is screaming'published at 16:38 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    *Lokoli 1-6 7-5 0-0 Ruud

    Jonathan Overend
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

What Lokoli has done really well in this set, after the first half an hour, is to get the crowd on his side, He jumps around the court and tries to engage the crowd.

Lokoli is screaming. He's come through qualifying and now he's won the second set against the fourth seed, and as he sits down he looks like a man who truly believes he can cause an upset on the first day of Wimbledon.

    *Cachin 3-6 3-6 1-2 Djokovic

A reminder that we had more than an hour delay on Centre Court due to rain, the roof closing and the court needing time to dry out (which meant the roof was re-opened again).

Novak Djokovic did his best to try to hurry things along...

  20. Aces up his sleevepublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 3 July 2023

    *Cachin 3-6 3-6 1-2 Djokovic

As soon as Pedro Cachin wins a point on the Djokovic serve, the Serb just seems to find an ace, literally, up his sleeve.

This time, two of them as 0-15 quickly turns into 30-15 and a couple of errant Cachin returns later, it's another hold for the world number two.
