One can only admire Venus Williams's resilience here.

There are glimpses of the quality which still possesses, even with her lack of mobility, firing off forehand winners and aces to keep in touch.

But Svitolina is one of the games' great retrievers, bouncing around court and sticking plenty of balls back.

That is exemplified in a cracking rally at 40-0 in the second game, full of power and touch from both sides, which ends up in Svitolina's favour when Williams finally cracks.

You can see what Elina is trying to do. Stay super steady, get down on her legs be compact on her swing and put as any balls back in the court as she can when Venus is tracking the ball well and try, I she can, to make her run.

The confidence and momentum is on her side.

Venus got off to a great start, she got the break and was striking the ball beautifully.

Then she fell in the third game, got broken, and it took a couple of games for her to feel more comfortable and to trust her movement.

You've to remember she is playing against Elina Svitolina. She knows her way around big matches. She won't be intimidated.

    *Swan 5-6 Bencic

More pressure from Belinda Bencic, again moving a couple of points away from the first set on Katie Swan's serve at 0-30.

Can the Briton turn this around again?

The crowd continue to cheer her every success, but despite battling back to 30-30 Bencic will have a set point.

A big point calls for a big serve, and yet again that's exactly what Swan delivers. Ace number nine brings up deuce.
