  2. Two-thirds of the job done for Alcarazpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-4 7-6 (7-2) Muller

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

No messing about from Carlos Alcaraz in that tie-break. A smash after Muller had served followed by an ace of his own gave Alcaraz the lead and from then on it was domination, with him not losing the lead

The Spaniard could even afford to throw in a double fault, but it didn't matter as Alcaraz wins it 7-2.

The winner of this match plays either Australia's Jason Kubler, ranked 77th in the world, or Chile's 25th seed Nicolas Jarry. Alcaraz is just one set away from round three.

    Alcaraz 6-4 6-6 Muller

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Alexandre Muller has only ever won two Grand Slam matches - one at the 2021 Australian Open and here in the opening round earlier this week against fellow Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.

He's got himself a tie-break in the second set as he looks to take a set off the reigning world number one in the sun on Centre Court.

It'll be some story to tell the grandchildren in future if he wins a set, and, obviously, the story could get even more impressive later on.

    Tie-break time.

    Norrie v Eubanks

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Returning to your happy place is usually a good thing.

Somewhere you've had great memories, a scene which instantly makes you feel relaxed and confident.

Court One is Cameron Norrie's happy place.

Wimbledon's second show-court is where he won three matches on his memorable run to the semi-finals last year - including the last-16 win over Tommy Paul and the quarter-final against David Goffin.

    Who could forget.

Aryna Sabalenka reflects on a hard fought victory in her on-court interview:

"It was a crazy match with unbelievable tennis. I'm super happy to be able to win this one. Thanks for your support. You can't imagine how much it means to me.

"I couldn't find my rhythm. I was telling myself to keep fighting, keep trying and you probably can win this one."

On the secret to good grass court tennis: "You have to stay really low, don't think and just hit the ball!

On her earliest memory of Wimbledon: "!I think when Angelique Kerber won ()in 2018) and I remember sitting in the cafe and waiting for my dessert. That was my earliest memory."

    Alcaraz 6-4 5-5 Muller*

Some of Alcaraz's forehand shots today really have missed the mark. There's one that goes well behind Alexandre Muller's baseline.

But a 130kmh serve - Alcaraz's biggest of the day - takes him to 40-15 and he holds to level the second set at 5-5.

  17. Norrie up shortly on Court Onepublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

Coming up next on Court One is British number one Cameron Norrie as he takes on world number 43 Christopher Eubanks.

Norrie is looking to better his run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year, where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic.

  18. Second set remains on servepublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-4 4-5 Muller

Unforced errors from both players level the scores at 30-30.

But a backhand volley winner and an ace wrap up the game in style for Alexandre Muller.

    Alcaraz 6-4 4-4 Muller*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Alexandre Muller just has to take the chances if he is to get the best win of his career. And that was a big one after a sliced volley from Alcaraz only makes it halfway up the net.

Muller can't capitalise though with a 129mph unreturnable serve getting the world number one out of danger.

Muller would've been serving for the set if he'd won that break point, instead we're at 4-4.
