    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 3-1 Fucsovics*

A puff of white chalk from a Daniil Medvedev serve indicates that a 126mph serve has landed inside the service box and Marton Fucsovics can't do anything with it.

The Hungarian was in charge early on in this third round match but momentum has swung the third seed's way.

  2. Alcaraz gets on the boardpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 1-3 Jarry*

Alcaraz does exceptionally well to pick up a deep Jarry return and gets his reward when the South American hits a backhand into the net. A wild Jarry forehand follows and the Spaniard is on the board in the second set.

  3. Break point saved by Alcarazpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 0-3 Jarry

Nicolas Jarry is really getting after the Alcaraz second serve - a backhand volley at the net brings up a point for a double break.

This time, though, the big Chilean goes long with his forehand. Alcaraz pumps a fist in half-celebration, half-relief.

  4. Fucsovics holdspublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 2-1 Fucsovics

Marton Fucsovics gets off the mark in set three.

He challenges an 'out' call against him which is deemed millimetres in by Hawkeye.

That brings up game point and the Hungarian produces an ace to give him the game.

  5. Catch!published at 14:40 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Very smooth.

You can just tell the umpire is doing his best to play it cool here...

Applauded by the Centre Court crowd for this impressive catch, he eventually cracks a smile.

He'll be rushing to watch that one back later!

  6. Another love game for Jarrypublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 0-3 Jarry

A second successive hold to love for the Chilean despite a point having to be replayed due to an incorrect line-judge call.

Big questions being posed for the world number one here. That first set was Djokovic-esque, capitalising on the sole break point he was given - but this second set is already slipping away.

  7. 'Jarry was always going to be an obstacle'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 0-3 Jarry

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Jarry has been stepping it up for a good part of this year. He was always going to be an obstacle for Alcaraz.

  8. Medvedev holdspublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 2-0 Fucsovics*

Daniil Medvedev only needs nine minutes to win the first two games of this third set.

The number three seed makes a drop shot winner look very easy as he holds the game to love.

  9. Something to think aboutpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 0-2 Jarry*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Nicolas Jarry is showing Carlos Alcaraz that he will not be having it all his own way with a break in the second game of the second set. A clenched fist in the direction of his team and it has given the world number one something to think about.

  10. 'That was not in the script'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 0-2 Jarry*

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

Well that was not in the script. Now there is a different feel about this match.

  11. Medvedev breakspublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 1-0 Fucsovics

Daniil Medvedev picks up where he left off and instantly breaks to open the third set.

The former world number one looks his usual, dialled in self and Marton Fucsovics on the other side is grunting in a way which tells us the Hungarian is putting in plenty of effort just to hang with Medvedev in those last few points.

    Yes, he can!

A blistering return to the baseline and Carlos Alcaraz can't get it back. Can't get it anywhere near to be honest.

What a response from the 25th seed to losing that opening set.

  13. Break point Jarrypublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 0-1 Jarry

Unflustered by the loss of the opening set, Nicolas Jarry bangs down some big serves to hold to love to start set two.

And some uncharacteristic Alcaraz errors hand him break point in the next game.

Break points are going to be at a premium in this match, you suspect - we've only had two so far: Alcaraz took his, Jarry didn't, and that's basically been the difference. Can he take this one?

  14. Loving every secondpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 0-1 Jarry

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

What a ninth game to end the opening set. Jarry opts to play it wide to the Alcaraz backhand, but the Chilean can't then dig a shot up and over the net from his shoelaces.

That gives Alcaraz the first set point, but Jarry, storming forward, dispatches a forehand winner with intent. The 25th seed then earns a break point but can't take it as Alcaraz gets Jarry on his toes sprinting around the court before finding a winner.

Alcaraz produces a superb serve for a second chance and Jarry goes long.

The Spaniard has played seven sets in these championships so far - and won all of them. Great entertainment, with the Centre Court crowd, at full capacity, loving every second.

  15. Game and second set Medvedevpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 0-0 Fucsovics*

Yes he can! We're all square on Court One.

From 30-30, world number three Daniil Medvedev wins the next two points.

On set point, world number 67 Marton Fucsovics is unable to do anything with a bullet Medvedev serve as his return drifts wide of the line.

  16. 'Alcaraz has risen to the occasion so far'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 Jarry*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

It has been fun watching Alcaraz for a lot of reasons - we knew this could be a real test for him but he has risen to the occasion so far.

Alcaraz will bank on when it gets tight, Jarry will feel that pressure and not execute that well.

  17. Medvedev under pressurepublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 5-3 Fucsovics

It's 30-30 and suddenly the rallies have increased in length after both players seemed to go through the motions in the past few games.

Can the 2021 US Open champion level this third round match?

  18. Fucsovics holdspublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 5-3 Fucsovics

Marton Fucsovics gets to 40-0 but a stunning forehand down the line from Daniil Medvedev leads to 40-30 and there's suddenly some pressure out of nowhere.

Fucsovics navigates his way through the third game point though and the world number three will now serve for the second set.

  19. Game and first set - Alcarazpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 Jarry

A very enjoyable 44-minute first set ends as Nicolas Jarry puts a forehand long and Carlos Alcaraz maintains his record of having not dropped a set at these 2023 championships.

  20. Break point savedpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 5-3 Jarry

Carlos Alcaraz does not panic, sending Jarry this way and that in a punishing rally before putting him out of misery with a winner into the open court.
