  1. Set point saved againpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 5-3 Jarry

Like a footballer heading the ball back from where the goalkeeper has come, Nicolas Jarry does the same with a wrong-footing forehand winner to save a second set point.

He's not going away, the Chilean.

And a succession of forehands, capped by a big driven volley, earn him a break-back point.

  2. Set point for Alcarazpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 5-3 Jarry

Alcaraz goes serve-volley at 40-30 on his first set point but finds only net.

However, Nicolas Jarry sends a pick-up-half-volley into the net at deuce and the Spaniard has a second set point...

  3. Medvedev holdspublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 5-2 Fucsovics*

Daniil Medvedev also holds without fuss as the second set ticks along.

Hungarian Marton Fucsovics will serve next to stay in this second set.

  4. Playing with stylepublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 5-3 Jarry

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz gets the first break of serve in this third-round match and does it in style as an absolutely gorgeous down-the-line winner gives him a break point.

After, he shows a raised clenched fist, holding the pose for just long enough so that the court-side snappers can get their perfect picture.

He then forces the error as a sliced backhand from Nicolas Jarry doesn't have enough power on it as Alcaraz gets the break and the chance to serve for the set.

  6. Fucsovics holdspublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 4-2 Fucsovics

Just what the doctor ordered. Marton Fucsovics doesn't face any pressure on his service game and the world number 67 keeps within a break of Daniil Medvedev.

  7. Alcaraz breakspublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 5-3 Jarry

Nicolas Jarry is wearing a plaster across his nose - presumably to aid his breathing.

Haven't seen one of those for a while - they were popularised by footballers a couple of decades ago, Robbie Fowler being the name that springs immediately to mind.

But he's not breathing easily right now - a double fault does not aid his cause and the Spaniard pounces from deuce to claim the match's first break of serve. He'll serve for the set now.

  8. Rain continues to trouble organiserspublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The rain continues to be a problem with the time for the resumption of play getting pushed back and pushed back and no sign of the downpours relenting any time soon.

Brollies are still up and covers are still on.

Not good news for fans and the All England Club after they had to refund many fans earlier in the week because of the weather.

Wimbledon also tweeted earlier to say that the grounds were expected to be at capacity today, that's a lot of people to reimburse should this continue.

Hopefully it will clear up and those people will actually get to watch some tennis!

  9. Medvedev ahead in second setpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 4-1 Fucsovics*

Daniil Medvedev has to battle to back up the break, saving a break point at 30-40 in the process.

Marton Fucsovics dumps a few shots into the net which gives the third seed the advantage in the second set.

  10. 'Not a walk in the park for Alcaraz'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 4-3 Jarry*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

This is not a walk in the park for Alcaraz by any means. He has to figure out how to return Jarry's serve and he has to hope his first serve percentage drops.

  11. The perfect lobpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 4-3 Jarry*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Yesterday Carlos Alcaraz said he loves playing tennis and wants people to love watching him play tennis.

The Centre Court crowd certainly love an absolutely perfect Alcaraz shot in the seventh game of the opening set as he produces a marvellous lob shot, with the ball looping over his opponent and landing just in - not an easy feat when the man down the other end is 6ft 6in.

    Brilliant stuff.

  12. Lovely lob from Alcarazpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 4-3 Jarry*

How do you lob a 6ft 6in man? With pinpoint accuracy, that's how.

Carlos Alcaraz lands his looper right on the baseline to respond to the giant Chilean's hold to 15 with one of his own as Jarry is unable to keep a diving volley at the net in court.

  13. Medvedev breakspublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 3-1 Fucsovics

From 34 shots to a double fault, Fucsovics falters and Medvedev strikes.

The world number three has his first break of this third round match.

  14. Svitolina going in One Directionpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Earlier we told you about Casper Ruud's love for The Weeknd - here's another tennis/music collab.

Turns out Ukraine's Elina Svitolina is a huge Harry Styles fan and bought a couple of tickets to see the pop star in Vienna tonight.

But her plans have changed after going One Direction in the Wimbledon draw - towards the latter stages.

The new mum, who gave birth to daughter Skai in October, has reached the fourth round in another superb Grand Slam run - As It Was at Roland Garros when she went all the way to the quarter-finals.

But, in A Sign of the Times, she has had to offer her tickets out to two lucky fans.

  15. Medvedev wins 34-shot rallypublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 2-1 Fucsovics*

At 0-15, Marton Fucsovics and Daniil Medvedev play out a 34-shot rally which shows off plenty of great skill from both players.

The exchange ends with a Fucsovics forehand on the run which goes long and gives Medvedev an opening.

  16. 'I'd be surprised if he doesn't win every major'published at 14:05 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 3-2 Jarry*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

I'd be surprised if Alcaraz doesn't win all the majors, at some point or another.

The pressure did get to him against the legendary man from Serbia in the French Open semis though.

  17. 'Comes up with goods again'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 3-2 Jarry*

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

Again pushed, but Alcaraz again comes up with the goods.

  18. Medvedev holdspublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 2-1 Fucsovics*

Daniil Medvedev is being made to work hard here by Marton Fucsovics as his service game sees some lengthy, tight rallies.

The Hungarian takes the number three seed to deuce but Medvedev survives and maintains his second-set lead.

  19. Still on serve despite another deucepublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 3-2 Jarry*

From 40-0 up, Carlos Alcaraz sticks a couple of unforced errors into the net and he's taken to deuce for the second time on serve in this opening set - this time, mostly by his own doing.

The world number one digs a couple of big serves out of his artillery to quell any danger.

  20. Fucsovics holdspublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 1-1 Fucsovics

Marton Fucsovics ends the game with a delightful cross-court drop shot which lands just beyond the net.

Daniil Medvedev sprints and makes the ball but can't get it over the net.
