    *Rublev 7-5 6-3 0-1 Bublik

Andrey Rublev has served first in both sets so far but Alexander Bublik gets that honour in the third.

Perhaps some scoreboard can help him get back into this match. The Kazakh wins the first game of the third set.

Game, set and match - Cabral/Matospublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Broady/O'Mara 5-7 4-6 Cabral/Matos

Well, it was a fun ride, but Liam Broady's Wimbledon is over for another year.

The Briton entertained us all as he knocked out men's fourth seed Casper Ruud to reach the third round of the men's singles, eventually falling to Denis Shapovalov next.

And he's now out of the men's doubles too, after he and team-mate Jonny O'Mara fell to a first round 7-5 6-4 loss to Francisco Cabral and Rafael Matos.

  3. Game and second set Rublevpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 6-3 0-0 Bublik*

I can't lie, I was looking forward to this match given the histrionics of these two in the past plus Alexander Bublik's form coming into the fourth round.

It has not turned out that way...

Andrey Rublev faces a hint of danger at 30-30 as he serves for the set but he extinguishes it instantly and his experience at this level pays off.

The seventh seed is putting in a professional performance and is a set away from reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time.

    *Rublev 7-5 5-3 Bublik

Another game point, another underarm serve from Alexander Bublik...

The camera on TV can't keep up and the crowd are taken by surprise too as Andrey Rublev can't get up to the ball and Bublik holds to love.

  5. Rublev backs up the breakpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 5-2 Bublik*

An easy hold to love for Andrey Rublev, who is now a game away from a two sets to love lead in this fourth round match on Centre Court.

  6. Rublev breakspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Rublev 7-5 4-2 Bublik

This is turning into a match between somebody who has made seven Grand Slam quarter-finals and another whose best Slam result before today was the third round.

Bublik looks off and is not playing like he has been during this year's grass court swing.

Rublev breaks after a Bublik shot goes long and he strikes the first blow in the second set.

  7. Watch: Qualifier Andreeva, 16, into round fourpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

What a story this was earlier today, and what a story it could develop into over the next few days...

Watch 16-year-old qualifier Mirra Andreeva knock out 22nd seed Anastasia Potapova to advance to the fourth round of the women's singles at Wimbledon.

We wondered if we would see an underarm serve on Centre Court and there it is. Rublev, at full pelt sprinting to the net, just about gets to it but can only send the return into the bottom of the net.

That's the third time I've personally seen an underarm serve in this tournament, but the first time I've seen it work.

It doesn't always, ask Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain, who tried it at 8-8 in the final set tie-break yesterday in his third-round tie, but left it inviting for Holger Rune to easily capitalise, with the Dane winning the match with the very next point.

But Bublik stands there, arms spread wide, taking the acclaim from a delighted, and surprised, Centre Court crowd.

  9. Sinner next up on Court Onepublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

Up next on Court One is eighth seed Jannik Sinner, who's bidding to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the second successive year.

He lost a five-set thriller to Novak Djokovic at that stage last year - having been two sets up.

The two could meet again at the semi-final juncture this year but first Sinner must negotiate surprise package Daniel Elahi Galan.

Galan has already gone further than any other Colombian player, male or female, by reaching the fourth round. The players are warming up as we speak.

    Rublev 7-5 3-2 Bublik*

That underarm serve might have breathed some life into Alexander Bublik. The 26-year-old fashions a break point but Andrey Rublev serves through the storm and holds via a deuce.

  11. Bublik holds with underarm serve!published at 14:42 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Rublev 7-5 2-2 Bublik

Andrey Rublev has two break point chances on Alexander Bublik's serve, one of which Bublik saves with an ace.

Into deuce we go and to win the game, the Kazakh hits an underarm serve! Rublev gets to it but can't get it over the net.

Bublik smiles and raises his arms to get some love from the crowd, who finally have something to make some noise about in this match.

Groans from the fans as they don't get to see a dramatic first set tie-break which had seemed inevitable, as Alexander Bublik loses his composure at exactly the worst moment with him double faulting on set point down.

That's a third of the way to the quarter-finals for Rublev, who takes the set 7-5 and is not looking to be too impeded now after that bang on a finger in the eighth game led to a medical time out.

Rublev is a Grand Slam quarter-finalist regular, just not here. He's twice lost in the last eight at both the Australian Open and French Open, with three defeats in the quarter-finals at the US Open.

A win today would complete the set and make him a quarter-finalist at every Grand Slam, although he has never progressed any further and a certain Novak Djokovic, who plays later on today, might be at the other end of the court in the next round.

By the way, there's more of a crowd in at Centre Court now, although the occasional seat dotted around is still empty. Will they witness a Bublik fightback? The early signs are no, with the 23rd seed taken to break point in his first service game of the second set, although he does recover with an ace to hold.

  13. Rublev holdspublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 2-1 Bublik*

Alexander Bublik can't make any inroads on Andrey Rublev's service games, which go by too quickly for the Kazakh's liking.

  14. 'Fun match'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 2-1 Bublik*

    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

This is a really fun match to watch. There is a machine like Rublev who plays the same patterns of play, make the guy move and keep pumping the ball side to side and with Bublik you have someone who you don't know will happen with the serve.

We haven't seen an underarm serve yet and I think we will get at least one. I am almost certain he won't grace Centre Court without giving us one, I want to see one!

And now more reaction - here's what Mirra Andreeva had to say after reaching the fourth round with a stunning win over Anastasia Potapova:

"She played really well. Congratulations to her and her team, they did a good job here. I did everything I could, I gave it all here, I came back in the second set from 1-4 so of course I feel great.

"I've been working on [keeping my composure] very hard. Now I know how it is easier for me to control my emotions on the court and stay calm.

"Even if I wanted to show emotion today, honestly I couldn't, I was out of breath on almost every point so I couldn't show any emotions.

"Of course I enjoy the atmosphere, it is amazing here, seeing all the top players, you see Novak Djokovic, you see Andy Murray.

"The atmosphere is great. I hope next year I will be in a different locker room which is a level above. I will do everything for it."

  16. 'I rode that momentum' - Pegulapublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

Let's hear from Jessica Pegula, as she talks to BBC Sport's Rishi Persad on court:

"That was great, it was tough there at the end but I came out playing really well, exactly how I wanted to play and I rode that momentum as well as I could.

"I am glad I challenged that last call. If that's what it takes to win the match, that's great. On the grass momentum can switch so much so I'm happy I got away with that."

    On facing Marketa Vondrousova next:

"Vondrousova is a great player - she's been out of the scene for a while, she's a nice girl but super dangerous and really tricky, and she's been playing really well."

  17. Rublev off the mark in second setpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 1-0 Bublik*

25-year-old Andrey Rublev looks dialled in today. He has only made three unforced errors compared to Alexander Bublik's 13.

The seventh seed wins the first game of the second set.

  18. Game and first set Rublevpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Rublev 7-5 0-0 Bublik

On Andrey Rublev's first break point opportunity of the match, Alexander Bublik, who has been getting 74% of his first serves in during the first set, double faults!

The 23rd seed fails to keep Rublev at bay at 30-40 and hands the seventh seed the set, where there has not been much between them at all.
