It’s not the brightest of days in south west London and there is a chance of showers in the opening three hours of play before, thankfully, the weather should be much better from mid-afternoon on.

If it does rain you’ll be reaching for your Wimbledon umbrella, maybe like the one pictured above, which is displayed inside the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum (free to enter) to the side of Centre Court.

If you head to the museum, don’t miss the chance to have a look at the trophies the players are trying to get their hands on.

Women’s world number one Iga Swiatek is among those in action today and hasn’t dropped a set so far in her opening three rounds so will be hoping to be grabbing this beauty after the final on Saturday.

Those with a ticket for the outside courts today may be looking at court 12 as the place to set up camp.

It’s back-to-back doubles action with plenty of Brits to get behind.

In action now is Jamie Murray and men’s doubles partner Michael Venus before Liam Broady and Jonny O’Mara play their match. That one got under way yesterday but they only managed to play two games before the rain halted it.

Then Murray plays again in the mixed doubles with American partner Taylor Townsend, before Wimbledon’s favourite couple Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur play their second-round match later.

We're still on serve in the opening set on court 12, where 13th seeds Jamie Murray and Michael Venus have set up another shot at trying to crack the early resistance of Austrians Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler by holding serve for a 3-2 lead.

Over on court 14, fellow Lloyd Glasspool and Nicolas Mahut have managed to find the breakthrough against David Pel and Reese Stalder, now serving for a 5-3 lead.

Not quite sure how Stefanos Tsitsipas is managing to do that, but he must still be feeling good if he's committing to continuing with his doubles. Fair play.

It's been the hot topic this week. What on earth will the weather do next?

However, it's currently cloudy overhead, and there is a threat of precipitation during the first part of the day...

  15. Play on middle Sunday?published at 10:58 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

Wimbledon introduced scheduled play on the middle Sunday for the very first time last year.

The day had previously been kept as a rest day to allow the grass courts to recover.

But out of necessity, it had also been used on four occasions in the past for play to catch up if the week had been badly affected by rain delays.

Of course, this year we are playing catch-up again with scheduling after rain disrupted play on the outside courts on Saturday.

That left us with two third-round singles matches still to be played - Grigor Dimitrov v Frances Tiafoe (6-2 6-3 1-2) in the men's draw, and Mirra Andreeva v Anastasia Potapova (yet to start).

We've reached middle Sunday at Wimbledon!

    How are you holding up?

It's been a hectic first week at the All England Club, and a busy one for the ground staff, with rain delays and a backlog of matches meaning there's been a lot to take in.

But, we have, mostly, reached the last 16 stage of the singles competitions - and things are really beginning to heat up.

    Welcome back!
