I was impressed in the opening set with the way Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler dealt with the variety that Jamie Murray in particular brings to the court.

There's no doubt that they can serve big, they can play with a good amount of power and take cuts on return but they showed a fair bit of craft themselves.

They really are playing at a good level but they'll have to maintain it.

Craig: Forgot about Potopova v Andreeva... another blockbusting match coming up.

That match is just about to get under way on court three, with the winner set to meet American 25th seed Madison Keys in the fourth round.

That was a high quality set of men's doubles. Both pairs playing their part.

    Ahh unlucky.

Murray and Venus found themselves in a spot of bother straight away in the tie-break. A little surge halfway through wasn’t enough to get them fully back into it and the Austrian pair take the first set.

A loud scream of delight from them and a shake of the head and roll of the eyes from Murray.

    *Bains/Lumsden 6-4 1-2 Linette/Pera

British duo Naiktha Bains and Maia Lumsden are really making the most of their wildcard entry to the women's doubles at SW19.

They are a set away from the last 16 after taking the opener against Magda Linette and Bernarda Pera.

Bains and Lumsden have won four ITF doubles tournaments together and are becoming an established pairing.

  9. Game and first set - Erler/Miedlerpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Murray/Venus 6-7 (5-7) Erler/Miedler*

Lucas Miedler lands a cross-court backhand to clinch the tie-break and the comeback proves to be in vain.

Jamie Murray and Michael Venus managed to force their way back into contention, but the 13th seeds are going to have to come from behind to progress to the third round.

From 4-0 down to 5-4 up! Great fightback.

Jamie Murray and Michael Venus have turned the tie-break around and the momentum has swung again on court 12.

But there's still plenty of work to do here.

They hand serve back over to Austrians Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler. On we go...

  12. Tie-breakpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Murray/Venus 6-6 (0-4) Erler/Miedler

    We're going to a tie-break!

Jamie Murray and Michael Venus can't find a way past Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler in game 12, despite setting up three set points!

The Austrian pair continue their run of points into the tie-break, racing into a 4-0 lead. That's nine in a row.

    Trouble for the 13th seeds.

  13. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Fils/Van Asschepublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Tsitsipas/Tsitsipas 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 2-6 Fils/Van Assche

Stefanos Tsitsipas and his brother Petros are out of the men's doubles, losing in three sets on court three.

French duo Arthur Fils and Luca van Assche celebrate their victory by leaping up into a chest bump.

Disappointment for the Greek pair, but it may be a blessing in disguise for Stefanos, who can now focus his efforts on the men's singles.

He'll meet Chris Eubanks in the fourth round tomorrow.

    Time for some rest!

The women's 32nd seed Marie Bouzkova, of the Czech Republic, reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time last year, losing to eventual finalist Ons Jabeur.

And Bouzkova is on course to at least match that run this year, having comfortably taken the first set against unseeded compatriot Marketa Vondrousova on court two.

  15. Murray and Venus still on servepublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Murray/Venus 6-5 Erler/Miedler*

There's still nothing to separate the two men's doubles pairings on court 12.

Jamie Murray and Michael Venus again hold with few issues to edge back in front at 6-5, turning up the pressure on Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler as they force the Austrian pair to serve to stay in the first set once more.

Can Murray and Venus strike here and avoid a tie-break?

    Ouch!

Lucas Miedler took a ball to the back of head when Alexander Erler returned Jamie Murray’s serve.

Perhaps the Austrian did something to annoy his partner this morning.

Such a bubbly character, Michael Venus. Even when the game is relatively passive, he's still bouncing around the tennis court trying to maintain a high intensity.

  19. Game and first set - Glasspool/Mahutpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Glasspool/Mahut 6-4 Pel/Stadler

That solitary break of serve has been enough for 11th seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Nicolas Mahut to take the first set on court 14.

The Anglo-French combination did not face a single break in opening up a lead on David Pel and Reese Stadler.
