    There was no medal for Britain on day three, but there were no shortage of highlights in Sochi with the Dutch continuing their domination of the speed skating events, a Briton making speed skating history only to fall in the final and a Russian billionaire stumping up the cash to save hundreds of stray dogs from a culling.     I'm afraid to say you'll have to be up early again if you want to follow Team GB from the off. Katie Summerhayes, who won silver at the last World Cup prior to the Olympic Games, begins her women's slopestyle campaign at 06:00 GMT. If she makes the final, tune in to one of our streams at 09:00.

    Britain's Andrew Musgrave is in the cross country skiing at 10:00 while Shaun White - also known as the Flying Tomato - begins his bid for men's halfpipe gold at the same time. The final follows at 17:30.

    After a court battle and years of pressure, women have at last been given the chance to ski jump at the Games. Diminutive Japanese teenager Sara Takanashi will be the favourite. Catch that at 17:30.

    GB's men and women curlers will be in action too, with the men facing Germany at 10:00 and the women taking on USA at 15:00.

    Twitter has released its latest summary of social media activities around the Winter Olympics and there have now been 1.7 million mentions worldwide of #Sochi2014 since 6 February. The most RT'd tweet relating to today's action concerned Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris,, external while Jamie Anderson claiming gold attracted the most tweets per minute today with a peak of 2,970, which coincided with US television showing a delayed broadcast of the event.

    Team GB have released a statement regarding slopestyle skier James Woods' hip injury during training on Friday.

    "Following a fall in training on Friday, James has received physiotherapy and medical treatment for a hip injury," said Team GB chief medical officer Niall Elliott.

    "He is progressing well and returned to training today as expected. He didn't complete all the training but this was very much part of the plan."

    They add that he will compete in ski slopestyle on Thursday.

    Britain's speed skaters have been as active on social media as on the ice today. Jack Whelbourne was in confident mood when he tweeted his girlfriend, external Elise_Christie last night ahead of today's 1500m final: "Bet you I wake up tomorrow already a #champion will win the races 100 times over in my dreams tonight #winning"

    However, all did not go to plan as Whelbourne crashed out of the final and twisted his ankle in the process, posting a picture on Twitter, external once he was up and about.

    "I'm really happy," says France's British-born Ben Cavet after his eighth place in the second phase of the moguls. "I missed the last six by two places - that's one split of the skis.

    "I'm still relatively young for the sport and this was my first Winter Olympics, so I was just aiming for a bit of experience. And, hopefully, I'll be going for a medal in 2018. It's awesome, it's such a different race, the whole build-up to it, so much attention from the media and then being with all the other sports is a really cool team."

    There were a few contenders, including Jack Whelbourne creating history as the first Briton to reach an Olympic 1,500m short track final. And over at the Alder Arena, Netherlands continued their domination of the speed skating events as Michel Mulder finished just 0.01 seconds clear of countryman Jan Smeekens with his twin brother Ronald Mulder taking bronze.

    However, the drama of the moguls final - the final event of the day - stole the accolade of Highlight of the day right at the death as Alex Bilodeau soaked up the pressure to deliver a sensational final run and defend his moguls title ahead of countryman and rising star Mikael Kinsbury. That event is well worth a watch on catch up when it's available. Trust me.

    It's that time of the year, or at least every four years, when the nation falls in love with curling - and this time there's even a hashtag.

    It was a great day for Canada and the Netherlands as another five gold medals were handed out for sporting excellence today. Another 80 are still on offer, with eight on Tuesday: Biathlon (women's pursuit), cross country skiing (individual sprints), freestyle skiing (women's slopestyle), luge (women's singles), ski jumping (women), snowboard (men's halfpipe), speed skating (women's 500m).

    "Sensational from Alex Bilodeau. The defending champion was under pressure all the way through by team-mates Mikael Kingsbury and Marc-Antoine Gagnon and Russian Alexandr Smyshlyaev but he delivered when it mattered most with an awe-inspiring final run to snatch gold. He's joined for the celebrations by his brother Frederic who has cerebral palsy.

    "France's British-born Ben Cavet, who began by asking Sir Matthew Pinsent if he was on Ski Sunday, watched the last few runs with the French TV crew next-door and then said he was really happy with his eighth place. 'I missed the final by two spots, that's one split of the skis,' said Cavet, who remembered who Pinsent was and asked for a photo."

    The moguls has been a great event for Canada, as the North American nation win four of the six medals available in the event. Alex Bilodeau's gold and Mikael Kingsbury's silver follows Justine and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe's gold and silver respectively in the women's event.
