Britain's curlers are in the Ice Cube, or the Ice Cube Curling Centre to give the arena its full name, which is only proper. The men are in action against Russia in their first round robin match and lead the hosts 6-2, while the women take on two-time Olympic champions Sweden at 10:00 GMT in their round robin opener.

    It was the night when almost six million Britons watched a Scottish housewife, a mother-of-two, become a star. The night a nation stayed up until midnight and, from the edge of their seats, wide awake in suspense, witnessed Britain win its first gold medal at the Winter Olympics for 18 years with their last throw on the ice.
