Business end. Two stones left for GB, both in the hands of the ice-veined skip Eve Muirhead. One British stone and one Canadian stone sit side by side in the first outer ring. Here goes Muirhead, sliding on her haunches. In from the right as we look...just three or four inches past the centre of the house. Excellent.
Eighth end drawing to a conclusion, four stones left for GB, three for Canada. Anna Sloan, blue eyes wider than the scoring area, leaves the girls in white with two yellow stones in the white ring, two out from the centre.

"This game hasn't disappointed, it is very close. When Canada picked up a three, the GB girls could have got their heads down, but they followed it up with a two and stayed in the contest."
Thanks, Lawrence. Compared to the shellacking handed out to the United States yesterday, Great Britain are taking us off the tension chart. Eighth end, two points behind, but with the advantage of the hammer.
I'm off for a spot of lunch, so here's Stephan Shemilt to take you through the conclusion of the curling and beyond.

"If GB play the next end well, there is every opportunity for Eve Muirhead and her team but they need to score well here. A little bit of a break in the last two ends, a miscalculation from the Canadian skip resulted in just the one for her team, when they were looking for two or more."
The Canadians take just the one shot in the seventh end to extend their lead to 7-5 with three ends to play against Great Britain.

Germany's Eric Frenzel will start the second part of the Nordic Combined - the 10km cross country ski - with a six-second lead after coming out on top in the ski jumping event earlier today.
The cross country race has a staggered start, with the leading ski jumpers going off first. The headstart is determined by the score in the ski jump. So 0.3 of a point in the jumping is worth one second in the ski. The first across the line wins.
Japan's Akito Watabe goes second, with a 21 second lead over Russian Evgeniy Klimov.

"That's more like it. That will make Eve Muirhead feel much better, a two with a difficult shot and smiles all round in the GB team. They have closed the gap. A crucial end puts them right back in it."
Brilliant shot from GB skip Eve Muirhead who knocks a Canadian stone out of the house and then ricochets off another to take a two and reduce the deficit to 6-5.
Japan lead hosts Russia 3-2 in the fourth session of women's curling matches with five ends remaining. China are heading USA by the same scoreline. Reigning champions Sweden lead Korea 4-3 with four ends remaining, while GB are trailing Canada 6-3.
Kelly Clark finishes top in the first heat of the women's snowboard halfpipe. The American won her fourth consecutive Winter X Games halfpipe title last month. The second heat, which features 17-year-old American and 2013 world champion Arielle Gold, starts at 12:00 GMT.
British skeleton medal hope Lizzy Yarnold:, external "I've heard that the #YarnyArmy are on their way! A big @Sochi2014 welcome to you all :-D xx"

"Jennifer Jones has redeemed herself with the last stone. Eve Muirhead looked like she could get the steal but Canadian team now lead by three shots. They are in control."
GB are one up in the fifth end and call a time-out before playing their final stone in the fifth end. Unfortunately, their stone comes up slightly short and all they can do is watch as Canadian skip Jennifer Jones cleanly takes out the only GB stone in the house to steal three. GB now 6-3 down with five ends remaining.

"GB women at 3-3 v Canada coming up for the 5th end break. There have been a few errant stones from the Brits. But it can't be easy playing in this atmosphere. The 3000-seater venue is almost full as the Russian women are playing Japan and the place erupts with every Russian point or draw near the button."
