You may remember that, earlier today, we brought you news of a track worker being injured at the Sliding Centre before a Bobsleigh training session.

A man was hit by a 'forerunner' - an empty sled that gets sent down the track before the competitors take to the ice.

He is now in hospital being treated for two broken legs.

Speaking of ice hockey, have a look at this fella in attendance at the Canada v Norway game. Has he come as Father Christmas? It's goalless in the first period, by the way.

So, all of today's gold medals have been dished out, but there's still plenty of live action to feast your eyes on between now and Today at the Games at 19:00 GMT. Group matches in both women's curling and men's ice hockey continue, while the short programme of the men's figure skating is little more than halfway through. All events can be watched at the top of this page.

Nicola Nanev: Such a shame for the great Evgeni Plushenko. It's so disappointing.

  5. Figure Skatingpublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

Russia's Evgeni Plushenko has announced his retirement from the sport after pulling out of the men's short programme because of injury. The 31-year-old was aiming to win his fifth Olympic medal, which would have made him the most successful figure skater in history.

    Robin Cousins
1980 Olympic figure skating champion on BBC TV

"Evgeni Plushenko has pulled a muscle, there is something stopping him being as free as he would like on the ice. There was a huge disappointment for the audience to see him pull out.

"He was very good in the event competition. I think this will be the last time we see him at this level.

"In his absence, Patrick Chan is a world champion who knows what it takes."

    Amy Williams
2010 Olympic skeleton champion on BBC TV

"Germany have four tracks across the country. If you have that many facilities where you can practise everything, it is massive compared to most nations which have one or no tracks.

"The track holds up for luge and skeleton as they are not heavy enough. The bobsleighs cause damage because of their weight, which when allied with the pressures, cause the track to break up."

Clare_Star:, external Who invented this luge relay event? Can't tell if it's genius or madness. Fine line.

  10. Lugepublished at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

Austria were way down the field, leaving Russia to take the silver and Latvia the bronze. And that, dear reader, is the final gold medal of the day, the end of my favourite event of these Games so far. I'm a bit sad.

    Colin Bryce
Former GB bobsledder on BBC TV

"You cannot beat the Germany team in the luge. It is like having Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the same team."

  12. Gold Medalpublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

Gold for Germany! Austria are nowhere near as the Germans complete a clean sweep of the four luge medals. Women's champion Natalie Geisenberger, men's champ Felix Loch and doubles winners Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt take team gold. Unbeatable.

    Colin Bryce

"The third-placed Latvians will be crossing their fingers and toes going into the final run for Austria. It is hard to know how they will go."

  14. Lugepublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

Canada the penultimate team to go. Miles behind Germany, but can they get a medal? Time slipping away...just missing out. They take the worst place - fourth - and will end empty handed. Only Austria to come.

  15. Lugepublished at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

New leaders. Germany go more than a second faster than Russia. All four team members are already celebrating on one sled (send them to the top, see if they can come down like that?), even though there are two teams left to go. We can probably already give them the gold.

  16. Lugepublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2014

Germany on the way, inside Russia after the first leg. By the way, German three-time Olympic champion Georg Hackl is part of the current team's staff. His nickname? The flying sausage. Unbelievable.

James Law:, external Safe to say the closest I've ever got to the luge is the helter skelter, and I plan to keep it that way.

Arran Higgs:, external As well as adding bobsleigh and skeleton to the relay, how about adding cross country skiing back up to the top!?

Chris Miller:, external Great Britain should take part in this. There's no baton for them to drop.

Italy into third, but probably won't be there for long. Here come the Germans. I'm expecting the best team luge run I've ever seen...

The sleds the sliders fly down on are actually longer than you'd think. Probably about a metre. Still, that's clearly not much space when it comes to fitting two grown men on - like when you try to get two adults into one single bed. The US can't better Russia, sliding into bronze. Germany wait as the Italian blue takes to the shimmering slippery tube.
