But make sure you get a good night's sleep because the action keeps on coming. What better way to welcome a wintry Sunday in the UK than getting up to watch Britain's curling men take on Norway at 05:00 GMT?

That should mean you're fully alert for Briton Zoe Gillings' attempt to qualify in the snowboard cross at 06:00, with the men's super-G scheduled for the same time. Bobsleigh, figure skating and speed skating also feature on day nine, and there are five gold medals to be won. We will have the lot for you. Miss it, miss out!

Phew, that brings us to the end of another action-packed day in Sochi. Let's have a recap of today's main stories....

Britain's Elise Christie was penalised for the second time at the Games and forced out of the short track 1500m in the qualifying heats.

Scotland's Christie, 23, later revealed she has been the victim of cyber abuse during the Olympics.

The United States defeated host nation Russia in a shoot-out to win a gripping group-stage ice hockey clash.

Russian ski cross racer Maria Komissarova has undergone major surgery after breaking her spine during training.

"The Japanese - and the Russians, for that matter - go wild for Noriaki Kasai's jump. Last man Kamil Stoch drops, he's in the air, a bit of a flap with the right hand, decent length but it's tense....was it good enough? It's like X Factor as we wait... and Stoch takes it to make history.

"Only the third man to win the normal and large hill in the same Games. Tremendous tournament. How are those pics of your own ski jumping coming along?"

    Chemmy Alcott and Amy Williams

"Chemmy Alcott was nattering to Amy Williams before she talked to Clare Balding on air. Chemmy said the conditions at the bottom of the super-G course were like when she skied on the sand in Abu Dhabi."

Asked whether it was her last Olympic race, Alcott said: "It is. I am a racer and I was gutted at the finish. It is incredible what I have been able to do six months after surgery. I have more metal in my leg than Lizzy Yarnold won today."

You have to feel for Noriaki Kasai, who was pipped at the death by Kamil Stoch. The 41-year-old is competing in a record SEVENTH Winter Olympics and what a way it would have been to celebrate by winning gold. Sure he will get a hero's welcome back in Japan though when he shows off his silver medal.

    Gold: Kamil Stoch (Poland) 278.7

    Silver: Noriaki Kasai (Japan) 277.4

    Bronze: Peter Prevc (Slovenia) 274.8

Yes he has! Kamil Stoch takes his second gold inside a week as he adds the long hill crown to the gold he has won earlier in the normal hill event.

  8. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Poland's Kamil Stoch is the only man who can deny Kasai now. He races down the jump, flies through the cold Sochi air and lands around the red line indicating the leading mark. But what about the style points? This is crucial. This is tense. Has Stoch done it?

  9. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Prevc is guaranteed at least a bronze after Germany's Severin Freund comes up short. But it looks like he has been overtaken by Japanese veteran Noriaki Kasai! Sensationally the 41-year-old, who was ski jumping while most of his rivals were in nappies, goes top. A Kasai win would be remarkable!

  10. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Slovenia's Peter Prevc, who had the longest jump in the first two days of official training with 138m, pulls another rabbit out of the hat in his final jump. It is a superb effort from the 21-year-old - and his 134.5m is enough to move 10 points clear of Fannemel. He is in pole position now.

  11. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

We have a new leader! Norway's Anders Fannemel is the man who is top of the pops now. He produces another jump of 132 to move into the lead. His grin is bigger than the Black Sea. Five men left....

  12. Ice Hockeypublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

The ice hockey action comes to an end for the day with Sweden's world champion men beating Latvia 5-3 in Group C, and Switzerland seeing off the Czech Republic 1-0. Sunday will see hosts Russia back in action against Slovakia in Group A, and the USA up against Slovenia.

  13. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

So we are down to the final 10. Germany's Marinus Klaus leads with a total of 257.4 after a gigantic second-round jump. But he can't win gold, can he? Klaus is still 25 points short of tally which usually wins the Olympic large hill competition.

    Clare Balding and Lizzy Yarnold

Lizzy Yarnold: "I cannot imagine what Elise Christie is going through at the moment. She is a very strong competitor, and she must now be honest and open with her coaches and concentrate on the processes. We totally believe in her."

"A very rough count gives you six seconds tucking down the hill, five seconds in the air and five more to the cameraman in the onesie. By the way, if be interested to see who at home has the best form in the air. Points will be awarded for style and commitment. V formation and telemark landing, don't forget."

A slight delay in proceedings as organisers analyse the wind patterns with detail that meteorologists would be proud of. That's frustrating for the competitors, but they are not waiting for long as Slovenia's Jernej Damjan flings himself off the jump. Germany's Marinus Klaus leads - but there are some big guns to come yet.

  17. Today at the Gamespublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Lizzy Yarnold: "I am so young in the sport. This was a massive achievement, the biggest of my career so far, but I have so much to learn. I am looking forward to the next challenge in four years."

    Yarnold family

Judith Yarnold (mother): "I am so amazingly proud of her. She is inspirational, and I know how many people she will have inspired and that is fantastic."

"Italy's Colloredo does it again and puts us all through the ringer, getting even closer to the left fence this time. But the cheers for him are merely an aperitif as the crowd go absolutely bananas for the Russian Vassiliev as he lands way beyond the second red line."

  19. Skeletonpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Great Britain's gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold says today's medal ceremony was the "best moment" of her life.

"I had cried so much walking out to the ceremony I just wanted to get out there. It was so much better than I imagined, there were so many British flags.

"It was amazing. I could see my family down to my left and could hear everyone singing. It was the best moment of my life."

  20. Ski Jumpingpublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

Disaster for Italy's Sebastian Colloredo as he is almost taken off the course by increasing winds as he flies through the Sochi night sky. Thankfully, Colloredo lands on the white stuff - just - otherwise it could have been nasty.

Moments later, the home crowd are whipped into a frenzy by a monster jump from Russia's Dimitry Vassiliev. He smashes the 140m barrier to set a new hill record in Sochi with a leap of 144.5m. But it is only enough to lift him up to third.
