More cheer for the host nation as Alexander Tretiakov wins Winter Olympic gold in the men's skeleton. Some Russians are not impressed with their medal haul so far, but former athlete Tretiakov's success will bring plenty of joy to his country.
His time of 3:44.29 is almost a second better than silver medallist Martins Dukurs of Latvia, with USA's Matthew Antoine taking bronze.
Great Britain's Kristan Bromley finishes eighth and team-mate - and Olympic debutant - Dominic Parsons is two places further behind. Top effort by the Brits.

Great Britain women's reduce the deficit to 6-4 against Switzerland after a great shot from skip Eve Muirhead. That stops the Swiss momentum but GB still face an uphill task to turn this around with only three ends left.

Tweets about Lizzy Yarnold's victory peaked at 6,280 per minute at 17:32 GMT - by far the highest spike of Games-related tweets on Friday, and at the time the fourth-highest spike seen in the Games so far.

"Friends of Lizzy Yarnold sing the national anthem as the flag is raised at the medals plaza. She then poses for photographs and will soon be through the mix zone talking to the media. She's done a lot of that already today!"
Over at the Olympic sliding centre, Kristan Bromley is followed down the scary-looking track (well to me, anyway) by fellow Brit Dominic Parsons who records a run 0.19 seconds slower to move into third with eight athletes to go.

"If I could go back to one day in the my life it would be my medal ceremony."
Lizzy Yarnold is soaking up the atmosphere at the medals plaza as she poses for the hordes of photographers perched beneath the stage. She laughs after being snapped for the obligatory bite-your-gold-medal before disappearing to the backstage area, where she will presumably mobbed for more interviews. What a moment for the 25-year-old!

Molly:, external I absolutely love reactions like Pikus-Pace's.
Claire Gamond:, external Seeing a GB athlete on top of the podium and hearing the national anthem never gets old!
Silver medallist Noelle Pikus-Pace of United States busts out a few dance moves as she steps on to the podium to receive her honour. But Great Britain's Lizzy Yarnold is a little more understated as she is handed gold - becoming only the 10th Briton to win one.
Yarnold close her eyes as she fist pumps the cold Sochi air, before managing to sing a few words of God Save The Queen. Her bottom lip quivers slightly, but she seems able to check her unbridled emotional and flash a big grin at the cameras.

"Lizzy Yarnold awaits Sir Craig Reedie to present her gold. The crowd are going wild for the Russian who finished third."
Amy Williams

"Lizzy Yarnold will be feeling more nervous now than the skeleton race. She will be searching in the crowd for her friends and family."
The proudest moment of Great Britain gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold's life is here. Remember, the 25-year-old only took up the sport about five years ago after applying for the UK Sport and EIS Talent ID Campaign. She was spotted as having huge potential in the sport - and now she is stood on the Olympic podium. We can all continue to dream...
The British interest in the men's skeleton is under way as Kristan Bromley attempts to produce the run of his life to storm up into medal contention. He takes a big hit on turn 11, which has been the grim reaper of this course, but manages to recover to take the early lead with nine sliders to go.

"Skaters David King and Stacey Kemp, short track performance director Stuart Horsepool as well as the Yarnold family, of course, are in the family and friends pit at the front of the stage awaiting Lizzy's arrival in a few minutes."

"In the medal plaza waiting to watch Lizzy Yarnold receive her gold medal. I remember those feelings as you wait your turn behind the stage!"

"Corner 11 has been a nightmare for so many competitors during this event.
"Britain's Kristan Bromley and Dom Parsons both took big hits in a couple of their early runs but there is a collective gasp as Italy's Maurizio Oioli comes within a fraction of an inch of coming off his sled.
"He just hung on to come through unscathed physically - but his ranking will suffer.
"Korea's 18-year-old Sungbin Yun follows & finished well. Some tipping him for Olympic success in his home country in four years time."

"The skeleton medals are the third lot of medals being given out in a mega ceremony in which eight events are being awarded. There's a huge crowd here and I can spot a couple of Union Jack flags in the plaza waiting to cheer Lizzie Yarnold and the national anthem."

"Russian flags are flying and host-nation fans are dancing alongside the track. They are expecting a gold for Russia's Alexander Tretiakov in the next hour."
