"United States's TJ Oshie has more moves than you will see on a dancefloor on a Saturday night! If you saw this game, you witnessed something very special."

There is more drama than an episode of Eastenders here. Russia miss once again to give TJ Oshi - seemingly the Matt Le Tissier of ice hockey penalties - the chance to finally clinch victory. Oshie goes left, he goes right and then slams the puck powerfully into the Russian goal. Victory to the USA!

Datsyuk is denied by USA keeper Jonathan Quick - and he misses! TJ Oshie is back in the thick of the action - surely? No, he misses the chance to win the game. Unbelievable stuff!

"Kristan Bromley lifts his arms to the sky and shouts 'come on' after finishing his third run in 57.17.

"It's not his quickest time, but it's enough to lift him one place up to seventh.

"Bromley is a leading sled designer and trust me, once he has retired the demand for his technology is going to be extremely high.

"If he can achieve top-7 results at an Olympics at the age of 41 then imagine what that sled with a young athlete could achieve…"

A brief breather from the ice hockey before the drama of the shootout, as we remind ourselves that Great Britain's women's curling team are in action again for the second time today.

Eve Muirhead's side gained a thrilling 10-8 victory over Korea this morning and have now won four of their six matches so far. Remember, each of the 10 nations plays nine times in the round-robin phase with the top four moving into the semi-finals.

Britain, who are currently tied second in the table, face another crucial game against a Switzerland team who have won three and lost three of their six matches.

  11. Ice Hockeypublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

This match is only a preliminary game but has been worthy of a gold-medal game - it is had it everything. And the drama does not end here as the final period draws to a close. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a penalty shootout. Do. Not. Go. Anywhere.

The USA are banging heavily on the Russia door, before the host nation go close through star man Alexander Ovechkin. Patrick Kane almost makes amends for his earlier miss as the game swings dramatically back to the other end, but he is denied again by old foe Sergei Bobrovski. Sensational stuff.

"Wow! To throw down the curtain here in extra time. What a save by Sergei Bobrovski."

  15. Ice Hockeypublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2014

With the reduced field, it means there is plenty of space on the ice for each team to exploit. The USA burst clear with Patrick Kane bearing down on the Russian goal in a one-on-one. But he fluffs his lines as Russia stopper Sergei Bobrovski stands tall to block with his left knee. How costly could that be?

Back under way in this gripping encounter - it is sudden death time. That means it is four v four, with a next-goal-winner scenario in five minutes of overtime.

The USA push the puck around quickly, putting together a little give and go, as they aim to unlock the stubborn Russian defence. But the home nation hang on, somehow, as the clock ticks down on the third period. All square after 60 minutes - and that means overtime.

Silence around the Bolshoy Ice Dome as the Russians contemplate the fact that have to survive another two minutes without their full complement of players. Yevgeni Medvedev looks like a broken man as he is sent to the bench for interference - throwing the momentum back to the Americans.
