Really nice shot from Britain who secure a double takeout of Canadian stones to clear out the house. Seven stones remaining, with GB holding the hammer. They really need to press home their advantage here and take a two.

"Bode Miller admits after his second GS run that his rebuilt knee is 'a little bit puffed up' and will see how it settles down before making a decision on the slalom. 'Slalom and GS are pretty tough on it, just a lot of really aggressive movements on the lower leg,' he said.

"'I just have to manage it. As soon as it gets out of control and you get the swelling in there and everything gets irritated, it can be hard to get it back down. We'll see how it reacts after this and make a decision.'"

"Job done for Great Britain in the fourth end. Canada take the one but it was a good end for Eve Muirhead and the team. A slight opportunity missed perhaps but every chance to tie it up if they get a two. They are still very much in this."

Britain do a good job to limit Canada to just the one shot in the fourth end. They'll have the hammer in the fifth as they trail by two.

The women's giant slalom final will be between the current World Cup champion, Swiss Patrizia Kummer, and Japanese Tomoka Takeuchi. Neither has been in an Olympic final, or even a semi-final, before. Takeuchi's route to the final was made unexpectedly easy after her race partners in both the quarter-final and the semi-final fell.

The medals are close to being decided in the men's snowboard parallel giant slalom, with Switzerland's Nevin Galmarini and American-turned-Russian Vik Wild battling for gold and silver in the final.

The fourth end is blanked which means two-time champions Sweden retain their lead in their semi-final against Switzerland. The winner will play either Canada or Great Britain in the women's final.

Great Britain have got their eye in now, with Eve Muirhead improving her accuracy to 88% to match her counterpart Jennifer Jones. She coaxes one of her red stones into the house, shielded by one of her own stones. The pressure is on the Canadians for a change, even though they have the benefit of the hammer, as it's them who are making the mistakes at the moment.

Bad news for the GB pairing of Andrew Young and Andrew Musgrave who have failed to finish the men's team sprint cross-country semi-finals. Young has tachycardia - where the heart rate speeds up - and he had to stop on the second lap. We understand that he is fine now. Frustratingly, it only happens a couple of times a season, so it's unlucky that it happened during the Olympics.

"The Miller knee holds up for that one as Bode goes second for now. Barring a miracle he won't hang onto that. He holds his gloves up to the camera at the bottom - there's a message written on them but can't see from where I am what it says. I'll ask him later."

"I'm sat next to 5 Live's Eleanor Oldroyd and Chris Mitchell and we're a bit twitchy after GB's poor start.

"But as Mitchell pointed out, Muirhead scored a record seven in one end in the match against the US and she's on the board for the first time today after taking two in the third end.

"It's not as noisy as it has been at the Ice Cube, but that could be something to do with the fact Russia are out and what's at stake in this match."

"This has been a good end for Great Britain as they force an error from skip Jennifer Jones. Great Britain making their own shots which is positive. Canada still have the advantage though."

GB hit back in the third end, Eve Muirhead making the most of the hammer this time around to take two shots and reduce the deficit. Canada are still in the box seat, though, as they'll have the hammer and a one-shot lead in the next.

Sweden lead Switzerland 3-2 after the third end in the other semi-final. The winner will play GB or Canada in the women's final tomorrow.

"Beautiful bluebird afternoon in the mountains now. Sunny and cold, what's not to like? Except, of course, if you're waiting to go into the giant slalom start hut with a few tenths of a second to make up, or protect, and the last four years of your life coming down to the next 80 seconds. Ski racing, eh?"

"A steal for Canada in the second end. The last stone was close but at this level, it won't do. Skip Jennifer Jones has been perfect but Great Britain less so. Already, they are in trouble."

  20. Curlingpublished at 10:35 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2014

Oh dear. It's a terrible start for GB as Canada steal a shot in the second end. Eve Muirhead boldly goes for two with her final stone, but she doesn't quite catch the yellow stone correctly and that leaves a Canadian stone closest to the centre circle. GB 3-0 down with eight ends remaining.
