I know I'm obsessed with keeping an eye on the skeleton training times, but they are a fair indicator of where the medals will be won.

And Great Britain's Laura Deas has again led the way in the third official training run, with Lizzy Yarnold back in sixth place.

The Team GB sliders are donning new skin suits, which according to a story in the Guardian, could benefit their times by up to a second per run. Very interesting!

It’s been a busy morning of media interviews for Team GB skiers in Pyeongchang!

Here’s ski-cross athlete Emily Sarsfield chatting with BBC Breakfast’s Katherine Downes. She’s set to finally make her British Olympic debut at the third attempt after injury ruled her out of Vancouver 2010 & she was controversially overlooked for Sochi 2014.

“It does feel a little surreal to actually be here,” she tells BBC Sport. “I’m loving it so far though and I can’t wait to get out onto the course because I think it’s one that will suit me and in ski cross, anything can happen!”

  4. 'I'll probably bawl my eyes out'published at 04:49 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

More from 17-year-old halfpipe gold medalist Chloe Kim: "It was really exciting. I'm so stoked.

"I'm so happy I was able to land and being here is so exciting, this has been a dream of mine.

"It's such an honour and do it for my parents. They've done so much for me and my career, I think, and I'm so happy with the outcome.

"It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I'm on such a high, an adrenaline rush. I don't really know what just happened.

"I need to go home and process everything and I'll probably bawl my eyes out some more, but this has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, so just to be here and to be able to do it when it mattered feels amazing."

  5. 'I'm happy to do it here'published at 04:44 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

Women's halfpipe gold medalist Chloe Kim, whose family are from South Korea: "It means a lot just being able to do it where my family is from. A lot of pressure, but I'm happy I was able to do it here and do it for the fans and the family. It was a really fun moment for everyone."

That was a canter for Shaun White. It's a phenomenal run but we know he has so many areas of this run that he can push.

The big thing that Shaun has changed since Sochi is that he seems to have loosened up.

    Men's halfpipe qualification

Shaun White has barely broken sweat but has still racked up 93.25.

That's a final-style performance in the qualifiers. It looked like he had plenty more in the tank, too.

White outfit, black helmet. Double McTwist, into a 1080. All at a bit of a canter, really.

Surely enough for a place high on that leaderboard?

Here's James, decked out in the green of Australia. Cringe-worthy fact: he has a condition that causes his knee to randomly dislocate. The current world champ, wearing red boxing gloves, takes an 89, slotting into second place.

    Men's halfpipe qualification

Ben Ferguson, the 23-year-old American, raises the bar. A wonderful routine, full of height, tumbles and flawless grabs, sees him become the first man to break the 90-point barrier. He leads this qualification campaign.

Not long until Shaun White and Aussis X Games silver medalist Scotty James.

    Men's halfpipe qualification

A decent standard so far. Three of the seven riders that have gone so far have scored in excess of 80. Trickily, though, the wind is rising, blowing left to right as the riders look down from the top of the pipe. Snow whirs around, but we will continue. For now.

    Caroline Chapman
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

British duo Laura Deas and Lizzy Yarnold enjoyed a very solid training day on Monday in the skeleton, with Deas finishing second fastest ahead of defending champion Yarnold in third.

They're both back out on the track today to have another go. Their first runs should begin in the next five minutes.

The men get their turn later. Brits Dom Parsons, who was sixth overall in training yesterday, returns alongside compatriot Jerry Rice.

    Men's halfpipe

    Ed Leigh
    Snowboarding commentator on BBC TV

Kelly Clark was the obvious parallel of Shaun White, but Chloe Kim has almost certainly retired her from that today. Chloe Kim, as we saw, is completely dominant and peerless in halfpipe.

Shaun White has been used to having things his own way. Here, we have a perfect halfpipe ready to ride but we also have some very good riders who can compete with Shaun, riders who will push him all the way for that gold medal.
