2014 Olympic bronze medallist snowboarder on BBC TV

As an athlete I'd like to play it safe on my first run. Especially knowing you have three runs, a safe run can do everything for your mojo and your mindset, so that when you go into your second run you can think 'yes, I have a solid run down and now I can go for it'.

    Women's halfpipe final

We're in the early stages, with riders going on reverse order of their qualification. American Kelly Clark leads with a score of 76.25. Decent, but is unlikely to remain in the top three. The halfpipe is a brilliant tube of white that reflects the bright sunshine. There's no hint of that bad weather that plagued the slopestyle yesterday.

Kim's parents moved to the US before she was born. She featured in a TV advertisement during this year's Super Bowl, which gives you an idea of her profile in the States.

    Women's halfpipe final

Chloe Kim's parents are from South Korea, so any success will probably be greeted as a home win by the crowd. Four years ago, aged only 13, she did enough to qualify for the Sochi Games, but wasn't old enough to compete. She and megastar Shaun White are the only snowboarders to be awarded a score of a perfect 100.

If you're not familiar with the halfpipe, the 12 competitors will be judged on the tricks produced on the 160m course. They each get three runs, with their best score counting on the leaderboard.

    Women's halfpipe final

She's the Lewis Hamilton, the Roger Federer, the Neymar of ladies' halfpipe. She's brilliant, she's dominating here but, more importantly, she's having a lot of fun.

The performances just come with enjoying her snowboarding - you can see the way she rides, she just loves it. Her parents are Korean and I think the Koreans will celebrate any success here today as if it's their own. She's enjoying this, which means she can ride with style and passion.

The 17-year-old bossed it in qualifying yesterday, leading us to think that the American is nailed on for gold and the rest are riding for the minor medals.

If you missed it, this is what she pulled off on the halfpipe...

Quite simply, this one is all about Chloe Kim...

Mixed curling bronze medal match: OAR 5-2 Norway

Almost match defining. OAR's Anastasia Bryzgalova attempted to come left to right, around three Norwegian guards, trying to nudge the sole Norwegian stone from the target. If she'd succeeded, it could have been five points, but instead it was only two. Still, a healthy lead for Not Russia at the halfway point. They are close to the bronze medal.

This, for me, is a crucial moment.

As the competition has gone on we have seen less and less big risks taken. Anyone who gets a two or three shot lead is in a pretty good position...

If you're staying awake for the men's combined, hoping that the wind won't spoil the action, you could be satisfied. We're hearing that the bad weather that has caused two days of skiing to be postponed is behaving itself today. If it holds, the first alpine skiing of the Games will begin at 02:30.

...just the two, but the Norwegians are back in it. Compelling stuff this. I mean, the pace and cerebral nature of curling is perfectly suited to late-night viewing. A bit like snooker. Or Newsnight.

Drama. OAR's Anastasia Bryzgalova takes a tumble as she slides backwards. She's OK, except maybe for wounded pride. A nervous smile, but her team are in trouble in this end. Norway could get three stones...

Norway's Kristin Skaslien is making a din. Her shouting is echoing around the arena as partner Magnus Nedregotten gets the arms pumping. By the time he's slid down the ice, there's sweat on his brow. Norway with the hammer in this end, one stone each left. They are in good shape, too. Could get two stones...

Not Russia have taken charge of this one, picking up another stone in the second end, despite some furious sweeping by the Norwegians. With these mixed matches only lasting for eights ends, it's a long way from 3-0 down after two.

Mixed doubles curling was introduced for PyeongChang 2018, but how has the debut gone?

The shot making and the skills that you need to play in this mixed doubles format, people may have felt initially that it was a bit gimmicky, but the shot levels required make it very interesting to watch and I think it's here to stay.
