    Men's halfpipe final

Scotty James, the Australian, has a stomach-churning condition that causes his knee to randomly dislocate. It's best not to think about that too much.

He has previously suggested that White gets the benefit of judging decisions, especially when the competitions are held in the US.

    Men's halfpipe final

Of the 'big three' - Scotty James, Ayumu Hirano and Shaun White - to go in this final, Hirano will be out first.

The Japanese was only 15 when he won silver in Sochi four years ago, the youngest snowboarder to win an Olympic medal.

With a father who owns a surf shop and skate park, Hirano became the first man to land back-to-back 1440s on the way to winning the X Games in January.

    Men's halfpipe final

Do you know much about Shaun White? The Flying Tomato is one of the most famous names in all sport, not least because he's managed cross-over success. To go with his two Winter Olympic golds and 13 winter X Games medals, he has won five skateboarding medals in the summer version.

With skateboarding a part of the 2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo, White has declared his intention to be there.

    Men's halfpipe final

    Tim Warwood
    Snowboarding commentator on BBC TV

Japan's Ayumu Hirano qualified at a canter yesterday with back-to-back 1080s, we know he can put together back-to-back 1440s. I saw him put it down in training so we know he has packed that for Pyeongchang. Now can he put it down now under pressure?

There was a bit of chat in the snowboarding community that Shaun White also has back-to-back 1440s. He may need them.

The American has won everything there is to win and his legacy is one of an outstanding snowboarder. That is secure. If he wins here though it go down to folklore.

Australia's Scotty James is the current world champion and won every contest in 2017. He has been a little quieter this year, but he has a very technical run with lots of tricks.

The air temperature might just have sneaked into the black. Aussie Kent Callister, the first man out, ends up flat on his back. Not ideal when there's a global audience of 100 million.

    Men's halfpipe final

The 12 riders go out in reverse order of their qualification score. They get three runs each, with the best score counting. Whereas yesterday's qualification was played out in bright sunshine, today it is grey and misty. It will be down to these superathletes to shine in the snow.

    Men's halfpipe final

Did you see the qualification in the men's halfpipe yesterday? Epic stuff, the big guns trading massive blows even before the final.

Two-time Olympic champion Shaun White, Australian world champion Scotty James and Japanese X Games winner Ayumu Hirano thumbed their noses at physics.

    The final will begin soon...

There's a lot of chat around me about the USA curling team's choice of 'pants'.

Are they *too* white? Do they look like baseball players? Do they blend in with the ice?

Right, in this break during the curling, there's quite a bit going on.

The pair figure skating short program has just begun and that bound-to-be-epic men's halfpipe final starts in around 10 minutes.

The delayed first run in the women's slalom comes your way at about 01:45.

Rob Barrie: In answer to Robin's question (and I'm no curling expert so I may be completely wrong) the broom is used in the other hand for balance. Because it's long it contacts a lot of the ice and so can be a nice "grip" for the free hand. If that made any sense.

    Switzerland 1-2 Great Britain

Britain lead again, but that's a wasted opportunity. Kyle Smith had to remove one Swiss stone and hold his yellow in the house, but the granite scooted out of the side door. GB pick up one, but it should have been a couple.

During a short break in play a moment ago, Team Smith gathered together to have a look across the other sheets, to see how their opponents were doing.

As it stands, Denmark are level 2-2 Sweden, South Korea are behind 3-5 against the USA, and Britain's next opponents Canada - the world and Olympic champions, trail 1-0 against Italy.

Excellent from Kyle Smith. Some blood and thunder removes two of the Swiss interlopers. Britain feeling more comfortable with one stone each to go.
