  4. What have I missed?published at 09:00 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Good morning!

Just logged in at work? Catching up on events in Korea?

    We've got you covered.

Great Britain's Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland just missed out on a top-10 finish in the ice dance competition on day 11 of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

After qualifying in 10th, the pair came 11th after their free dance while Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won gold with a world record of 206.07.

Also overnight, GB's Rowan Cheshire came seventh in the women's ski halfpipe final, when Canada won another gold through Cassie Sharpe.

And there was disappointment in the men's halfpipe qualifiers as Britons Murray Buchan, Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon and Peter Speight failed to qualify for the final.

There was better news for GB's curlers, with both teams taking a step closer to the semi-finals. The men enjoyed a big win over Norway and the women defeated close rivals Japan.

Meanwhile, Elise Christie has returned to the ice for the first time since suffering soft tissue damage in a fall during Saturday's 1500m semi-final.

  5. 'I have high hopes'published at 08:57 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Curling: GB men 10-3 Norway

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

Kyle Smith is really beginning to show form. His parents told him to relax and play good shots and that's exactly what he is doing. The boys are peaking at the right time.

It's a strange thing to tell a competitor how big the stage is. It has taken the boys a while to get into the match practice. Everything is in their hands as well. I have high hopes for the men.

I expect both teams to be in the play-offs without question. Given their form, I have high hopes and I'm fully behind them.

There's coverage of the short track from Pyeongchang from 10:00 GMT. In the women's 1000m heats, it's GB's Kathryn Thomson in heat four. Elise Christie is in the fifth heat and Charlotte Gilmartin in heat eight. Also, there's the men's 500m heats and the women's relay finals.

  8. Joint-Korean team bow outpublished at 08:50 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Ice Hockey: Sweden 6-1 Corea

The joint Korean women's ice hockey team ended their historic Olympic run this morning with a crushing 6-1 defeat to Sweden but still received an emotional standing ovation from the crowd.

They have found little success on the ice, shipping 28 goals and scoring only twice in five games.

But they were a crowd favourite in South Korea, hailed as a potent symbol of the "Peace Olympics" at the Games.

  9. 'The decision is with Elise'published at 08:49 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Elise Christie update

More from Stewart Laing on Elise Christie: "She's shown she can today [get her foot in the boot]. To be fair the decision is with Elise now. We have done our medical reviews.

"We are happy with where she is at. We will re-assess and make sure the ankle is okay and take it from there.

"We want to be fair to the other athletes so we will look to make the call [on whether she will race] around 6pm - an hour before race time."

  11. 'She's in the best place she could be'published at 08:41 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Elise Christie update

More from Laing: "It is clearly a physical challenge that we are overcoming. We can expect the start - she won't be her normal rapid starter but she is able to go fast and she is able to do overtakes.

"It's early days [whether she will be at 100% fitness for the semi-finals on Thursday if she qualifies.] We need to go out and deliver today and see what racing does.

"We are confident that the progress she has made over the last two days has been really good and that's all we can work with.

"You know what Elise is like, she is her usual playful self. She has been on social media, wishing teammates good luck and she was singing on the ice this morning. She's in the best place she could be."

  13. 'She will be at 80-90% fitness'published at 08:40 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Elise Christie update

British short-track Performance Director Stewart Laing speaking to BBC TV: "We have worked really hard over the last few days. We will take each step as it comes. We will see how her ankle is in the boot and assess from there.

"She's strong. She's able to do the majority of the things we would be looking for. I would say she would take to the ice at around 80-90% fitness.

"There is soft tissue damage so that means that the muscles and ligaments around the bones were affected by the fall."

    Pressure?

According to renowned Olympic historian David Wallechinsky, it is estimated that 94% of the world’s curlers live in Canada.

  16. 'Showed real professionalism'published at 08:37 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Curling: GB women 8-6 Japan

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

Everything is in our hands. The girls showed real professionalism today. In the second half they came out and performed really well.

We have a huge opportunity to get ourselves to the play-offs and knock out Canada too. The girls give everybody due respect - as you heard in their interviews.

The old rivalry between Great Britain and Canada will show its best tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.

Canada are not playing their best at the moment. They are really struggling so if we can continue our good form, it will be great.

Every Canadian team that comes out here is expected to come home with an Olympic gold medal and that is a lot of pressure to take on.

  17. 'It's important we go up a gear'published at 08:34 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Curling: Great Britain 8-6 Japan

British curling skip Eve Muirhead speaking to BBC TV: "We take every game at a time. We give our opposition a lot of respect. It's important we go up a gear [against Canada.]

"I feel like we have gone up a step each match. That was two back-to-back strong victories."

Teammate Anna Sloan: "I'm pleased with the team performance out there. I thought we were solid and a really good unit.

"We will do the same again in the next game."

What tiebreakers are used in the curling standings when win/loss record is the same?

    Richard, London.

Boy are we glad you asked!

    Ready?

If more than two teams are tied at the end of the round robin, teams are eliminated to get to the point where a single tie-breaker session can be played to determine the semi-final teams.

Direct results between the tied teams are used first; then, if this can’t separate them, they are ranked by their Draw Score Challenge (DSC).

The DSC is the average of a team’s last stone draw (two stones played by each team before the start of each match to decide who gets to play their stones last), with the least favourable two results discarded when determining the final DSC.

The team with the lower DSC average will be ranked higher.

    Obvious really.
