Things are looking good for Great Britain. That was smart from Eve Muirhead. She won't be complaining at all about that.

They have taken this match and turned it around from the second end. They have got their shots together again - Eve in particular.

    Record-breaking stuff

Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir held their nerve to become Olympic ice dance champions for a second time overnight.

France's Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron led after a new free dance world record of 123.35.

But 122.40 for Virtue and Moir, who took silver in 2014 after winning gold in 2010, took their total to an overall world record of 206.07.

USA's Maia and Alex Shibutani claimed bronze while Great Britain's Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland came 11th.

Ice side down Elise, ice side down

The 1000m is Elise Christie’s favourite event. Her first World Championship medal came over this distance back in 2013, the same season that she also took the World Cup title. Such form led to her going to the 2014 Winter Olympics as a real medal contender but it is well documented what happened next.

The 1000m completed the Sochi disaster for Christie, who was judged to have impeded a Chinese skater on the final lap in the semi-finals, and thus disqualified from competing in the final.

Will it also complete her Pyeongchang disaster?

    We hope not...

Marie Martinod picked up silver in the women's ski halfpipe - and had a message for all girls watching afterwards.

"It means I made a good decision to come back (after giving birth in 2009), it means I've been working hard and I could do it at the right times," she said.

"It means I'm leaving this industry with a great message to all the girls: that you can push hard, you can push for a long time, and if you take care of yourself you can do it until you're 33 at least.

"And it means - and this is most important - that you can be a woman, you can have kids and you can do it, feel good about it, and come back (to the sport)."
