But it's not just the curling that will keep us going through the small hours. Far from it.

American uberstar Lindsey Vonn goes in the women's downhill from 02:00 GMT and qualification in the men's big air snowboarding starts very soon.

Most excitingly, we have the entire men's ski cross event beginning at 02:30.

Even if you have no interest in winter sport, you need to see that. It's like Takeshi's Castle on snow.

Eve and the team will just be concentrating on this game, this is a big rivalry and the girls will be taking this game as per any normal game. Of course they will be thinking about the latter stages in the back of their minds but all their efforts will be on this game today.

    Canada 0-0 Great Britain

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

Canada have never not been on the podium in the women's event and this Olympics has been big news back home. Canada always come here as gold medal favourites, they've never failed to make the semi-final and they are under enormous pressure.

It's a big match for Great Britain, who can consolidate their place in the semis, but it's massive for Canada.

It's dead simple for Eve Muirhead and co. Win tonight and they will be guaranteed a place in the last four.

Their opponents? Reigning world and Olympic champions Canada, who, frankly, are in trouble. Lose this and the Canadians are out.

    We've just got under way...

Here, though, we are nothing if not dispassionate, hard-hearted and ice cold.

No emotion, just the sport. (OK, maybe a bit of emotion, maybe when we run out of snacks in the small hours).

Our day 12 of these Winter Olympics begins with curling...
