Marit Bjorgen does become the greatest Winter Olympian.

But people were starting to doubt how many more opportunities this American team had. This is huge for the sport in America. An amazing finish from two American women who have produced the race of their life against some of the all-time greats. It has been a privilege to watch.

What a race. The Americans have done it. They are on the podium for the first time and it's a gold. So many times they have been left having to answer awkward questions but not tonight.

    OAR 6-1 Norway

    Seth Bennett
    Commentator on BBC TV

OAR have looked a class above in the tournament, they reached the semi-finals with a comfortable 6-1 win over Norway with six different players scoring their first goals of the games.

Their depth is frightening and having only played four games 15 different skaters out of the 20 the which can ice have all registered goals. Norway were out played and outclassed by the Olympic Athletes from Russia who are a throw back to the red army teams that won eight gold medals between 1956 and 1992.
