So leaders Germany go away now...

  2. The velocity was fantasticpublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2018

    Women's Bobsleigh

Nicola Minichiello speaking on BBC One:

The start times were not great but the velocity was fantastic though. The lines were consistent, first run was neat and tidy, second a little more scrappy. She is one of a few athletes that dropped and dropped and brought her time down.

Every sled that goes down just breaks up the ice. Yesterday starting 17th was a disadvantage to them and they are right there where all the competitive sleds are.

If she [Mica McNeill] can hold it together she can at least maintain 6th place. I really believe she can stay up there.

Two-time Olympic bobsledder on BBC TV

It's the second and final day of the women's bobsleigh event. We have runs three and four, with the Olympic medals being decided on run four.

Team Mica of Team GB are sat in sixth place only 0.16 seconds behind the bronze medal position. Not bad for a self funded team, in the mix with the sports well funded powerhouses.

Clearly the Norwegians have skated out of their skates. It was very close and I would say they still have a little bit left in the tank.

Well then! I was expecting more Dutch success in the second semi but instead it's Norway who pile through to win in an Olympic record of 3:37.08!

It will be Norway v Korea for gold.

The Koreans sprinted for all they were worth in that last 800m.

Effectively with New Zealand you had two skaters pulling a cart all the way round and what a job they did, but it wasn't enough.

It's been a smooth effort from Japan. You need to have teamwork. You are only as strong as the weakest athlete in your group.

Both semi-finals went to form. We are set-up for a final that is not easy to call.

Well, not quite - but GB’s Mica McNeill and Mica Moore were in stunning form last night and are just 0.16 seconds off the medals heading into the final two runs.

However, the pair who raised over £40,000 in through crowdfunding after their national governing body ran out of cash, believe they can still do better.

“If I’m honest I drove a bit better in training,” McNeill tells me.

“It’s really different come the race and we are pleased with what we’ve put down but we know there is more to come.”

Moore added; “it was so special to be out there and I have so much trust and faith in Mica and know we can do something special.”

They begin their penultimate run at 11:40am GMT, with run four following at 1pm GMT.
