Women's curling final: Sweden 4-2 South Korea

    Curling commentator on BBC TV

The Korean fans get something to cheer as they pick up one.

Sweden are still very much in control though and they will have the hammer in the seventh end.

Unless they start making mistakes, it looks as though the gold is theirs.

Women's curling final: Sweden 4-2 South Korea (after end six)

South Korea skip Kim Eun-jung lands her penultimate stone in the middle of the house, bringing a little whoop of delight from the crowd and landing her a high five from team-mate Kim KyeongAe.

But is it going to be good enough? Anna Hasselborg biffs that stone out of the way, but Korea have the hammer and should narrow the gap here.

Kim Eun-jung makes no mistake, breaking out in a big grin as her rink huddles round to plot their next move.

Kim EunJung hasn't been allowed to play well so far, but she's certainly not playing as well as we've seen earlier in the week.

She's bound to be nervous, there has been so much media attention on her in particular as skip.

Only a fool would write off South Korea at this early stage. But undoubtedly they need to buck their ideas up if they are going to make a fist of this final. Quick.

Some of the home fans have decided to tuck into their half-time Kimchi* down in the concourse rather than return to their seats.

    * I've no idea if they sell Kimchi at the Gangneung Curling Centre

  5. IOC will reinstate Russia if there are no further doping violationspublished at 01:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018

Despite recommending not lifting Russia's ban for the Winter Olympics closing ceremony at 11:00 GMT, the IOC executive board has suggested the country’s Olympic status will be returned if there are no further doping violations during the Pyeongchang Games.

Two of their 168 athletes have tested positive in South Korea.

The recommendation is now being discussed by the IOC membership.

    Nick Hope
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

I have to be honest, the performance of the British men’s four-man bobsleigh teams have been worse than anyone could have ever imagined.

These teams have both won World Cup medals this season - and let’s no forget, have also have over £5m invested in them over the last four year cycle since the previous Olympics.

Even a few days before the Games they were talking up their medal chances to me in our preview interviews but things began to fall apart as soon as they hit the ice.

Regardless of whether one set of runners was deemed illegal, that’s no enough to explain why both crews have been so off the pace.

This is up there amongst the biggest shocks of the Olympics.

  7. GB sleds into final runpublished at 01:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018

    Four-man bobsleigh

A sigh of relief of sorts for the GB bobsleighers.

With just the backmarkers to come it seems both sleds will finish this third run inside the top 20 and therefore make the final run.

It's still a disappointing showing though. They will progress in 17th and 18th place, over two seconds off the lead.

  8. IOC executive board recommends not lifting Russia banpublished at 01:20 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018
    Breaking

The International Olympic Committee executive board has recommend not to lift the Russian suspension for the Winter Olympics closing ceremony later.

A final decision on whether the Russian athletes will be allowed to parade under their own flag or remain under the Olympic flag is expected soon.

The neutral Olympic athletes from Russia (OAR) team, comprised of athletes who proved ther were clean before the Games, have competed under the Olympic flag.

It's been a great start for Sweden in this gold medal match.

The crowd are hoping Korea can lift their game but so far it's been the Swedes who have been very much in control.

Women's curling final: Sweden 4-1 South Korea (after end five)

Sweden are still the happier rink as this end draws to a conclusion. The European runners-up have two stones in the house and it isn't the easiest double take for South Korea skip Kim Eun-jung.

Has she got something special up her sleeve? Nope. Sweden nick another one and are in complete control at the halfway stage.

The British sleds are making mistakes at top and that is why they are so far back. It is not where this programme should be. They are both looking like they will struggle to make inroads into the top 15. It doesn't look like being a great day for Great Britain.

Three Swedish stones in the house are ripe for being dragged out of the side door by South Korea.

Vice skip Kim Kyeong-ae ups the decibel level inside the Gangneung Curling Centre - on the sheet as she clunks into the Swedish stones, and off it as the home fans find their voices - by taking them out.

No. No he can't. The second GB sled, piloted by Brad Hall, goes 18th after a mistake at the top of the track.

It's going to be a nervy few minutes for both GB teams. Only 20 sleds will race in the final run so in 17th and 18th they're at risk of missing out.

They can't improve their position and stay 17th.

Can Brad Hall's team do better?

Sweden are old hands at this Olympic final lark. This is the nation's fourth consecutive appearance in the gold-medal game, beating Switzerland in 2006 and Canada in 2010 before the Canadians got their revenge four years ago.

South Korea, in contrast, are competing at this level for the first time. It appears nerves - and possibly expectation - is getting the better of them at the moment.

Kim Seon-yeong whacks down a quickie in the hope of getting some stones moving, taking out the guard at the front but not able to cannon onto the ones in the house.

Not happening for the host nation at the moment.
