Curling: Men's final Sweden 7-10 United States

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

This competition has been fantastic for curling, we've seen so many different countries in the play-offs.

But I have been very shocked not to see Sweden win, but also pleased to see a bit of a change with USA, because they've been deserving winners. USA have come out and beaten Canada and Sweden - they've played an absolute stormer.

Sweden are sending the stones down, and USA are picking them off and clearing them from danger. The gold medal is almost won for the USA.

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

Sadly the man who has not performed is Niklas Edin. He is one of the greats. If you had said you would be in the Winter Olympics final and you are playing the USA, you would say 'great, I can beat them' but you can't take anything away from USA.

The USA have beaten the two best teams in the world, you can't say it has been a lucky gold medal.

  5. One end to go, Sweden need something incrediblepublished at 09:01 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Curling: Men's final Sweden 7-10 United States (after nine ends)

Sweden take two in the ninth end. They need something crazy to happen in the 10th end.

This would be some collapse if this one falls through the United States' fingers.

It's gone quiet in the curling stadium and the enormity of this starts to sink in. Team USA are going to be Olympic curling champions.

Manning: That must be a gold for USA and well deserved. The much better team today! Skip Edin has really let the Swedish team down today. Well done USA!

Reggie: I thought five points in an end was a rare thing. That's two this week.

Mr T liked it as well...

Curling: Men's final Sweden 5-10 United States (after eight ends)

They get it. It was 5-5, a loose final stone from Niklas Edin, gives United States the chance for five and it is perfect from John Shuster. Is that the stone that gives them gold? They lead 10-5 with a maximum of two ends left.

    This is how it unfolded.

  11. Norway go sole-searchingpublished at 08:43 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Norway might have won the most medals of any country ever at a Winter Olympics but it has come at a cost - they have run out of commemorative, gold-coloured shoes.

The Scandinavians were sitting pretty at the top of the medals table on Saturday, the penultimate day of the Pyeongchang Games, with a record 38 medals, 13 of them gold. That betters the previous record of 37 won by the USA at Vancouver 2010.

But their gold rush has created a problem as they have ran out of the eye-catching gold-coloured shoes that its triumphant athletes sport at medal ceremonies.

"After the men's team event in ski jumping we ran out of stock," said Nils Roine, chief communications officer of the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee. "There alone another four pairs were handed out and with gold medals in both the men's and the ladies' cross-country relays, the shoes were ripped away.

"Our ambition was 30 medals in total, but no number was set for gold medals. We will anyhow do our best to provide our athletes with shoes if they win more," Roine said.

United States are holding one in end seven, but Sweden have one stone left. And it is perfect from Niklas Edin. It clatters into the US yellow stones, nudging them out of the danger zone and, although he may not be at his best, Edin has managed to level it up at 5-5.

Curling: Men's final Sweden 4-5 United States (after six ends)

Into end seven of the men's curling and the Americans are certainly pumped up. Some crazy high-fiving from Matt Hamilton and he likes what he sees.

America have three stones in the house, but things can change quickly and Oskar Eriksson wipes out two of those with his next effort.

USA still on course to extend their lead though.

Snowboarding: Ladies' parallel giant slalom final

You have to be an incredible athlete to win a Winter Olympics gold medal. But two golds, in two different sports, that's sensational.

That's what Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic has done as she became the first woman to win gold medals in two sports at a Winter Olympics with victory in the snowboarding parallel giant slalom.

Ledecka also earned a shock win in the skiing Super G earlier in the Games. What an effort, and you can watch her latest victory again here.

    Snowboarding: Men's big air

    BBC Radio 5 live

More from Billy Morgan, talking to BBC Radio 5 live about how he first got into snowboarding and gymnastics, after winning bronze in Pyeongchang: “I can’t believe it, I got told I was the first British male to get a medal on snow, which is nuts really.

“I started riding at a ski slope in Southampton, so they were the golden days of when we used to go snowboarding and make the most of it, just have fun. We used to finish school and go and spend as much time there as possible, they were good times.

“It wasn’t until I was about 17 (that I first went on snow), we decided to go on holiday, a long time ago.

"When I was about four, I went to Tumble Tots and they decided to send me to something a bit more regimented and it turns out I was bit of an acrobat."

On waiting to find out if he had won a medal: "It’s a horrible experience, you have to just think about something else and wait for the result, it was a crazy one.

"Going into the finals, I didn’t feel like a medal contender, but the fun thing about snowboarding is you never know what’s going to happen – you never know who is going to fall - and today was my day."

Sweden were 2-0 ahead, the United States then jumped into a 3-2 lead, Sweden retook the lead at 4-3 but now the United States are back in front, scoring two in the sixth end after a rare error form Sweden's Niklas Edin.
