American skier Nina O'Brien is out of the Winter Olympics after it was revealed she broke her left leg in a heavy crash in Monday's giant slalom.
The 24-year-old was in sixth place after her first run, but clipped the penultimate gate on her second and was taken off the course on a stretcher.
"Nina sustained a compound fracture of her left tibia and fibula," said a US team spokesperson.
O'Brien has been replaced by team-mate AJ Hurt for Wednesday's slalom race.

You have to take your hat off to the ice technicians. It's extremely dry and they have worked hard to get consistent ice that's going to curl.

Jen is just playing this at a very comfortable weight. Good attempt and just the one there for Great Britain.
Nerves will just have settled a little bit now.

Think we'll see Sweden guarding things up - they don't want to give away any more shots than they have to.

Nicely done by Bruce Mouat, a little bit of space created and Oskar Eriksson looking to see if he can squeeze that yellow stone out.

There's a healthy GB and Sweden contingent in the stands, with team-mates and staff here to support.
Already there's been competing bursts of cheering. Might get tasty later on.

GB been very consistent all week and they've just to remember that.

It's always a really hard position because your goal is to win gold.
So it is so hard to get yourself up for a medal game, but today is a new day, there's a medal up for grabs and Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds just have to focus on today.
That loss will be raw for a long time but they are both very professional. Yesterday is history right now.
Sweden scraped into the semi-finals, and really got trounced by Italy last night. They'll be quite nervous.

Bruce Mouat was pretty critical of his own performance in last night's loss to Norway.
"I am disappointed more about what I have done for the team," he told BBC Sport.
On his day, he's one of the very best curlers around. He certainly feels he's not hit top form yet. Will he nail it today?
Figure skating - men's short program

American Nathan Chen delivered a stunning short program to lead the men's figure skating but defending champion Yuzuru Hanyu's medal chances were severely dented at Beijing 2022.
The showdown between the Japanese double Olympic champion and the three-time world champion is one of the most keenly anticipated of these Games.
But Hanyu missed his opening jump - a quadruple salchow - and could only score 95.15 to sit eighth. The decisive free skate is on Thursday.
It was a different story to four years ago when pre-Games favourite Chen failed to land a single jump in his short program as nerves got the better of the then 18-year-old.
Since then the 'Quad King' has dominated the sport, winning three successive world championships, but still had an Olympic point to prove.
And he did it in spectacular fashion, with a season's best score of 113.97 for an elegant routine where he nailed every jump and spin in style.
