Mixed-doubles curling bronze medal match: Sweden 9-3 GB (after six ends)

    Rhona Howie
Olympic gold medallist curler on BBC TV

I don't really know where it went wrong - I just think they didn't come out firing today - they played so well all week and that loss yesterday in the semi-final hit them harder than we thought. Sweden came out firing from the word go and we were struggling with stone placement in the first four ends and Sweden capitalised and we were really crucified for it.

It was a really hard defeat last night because they played well in that semi-final and to lose it in the way they did on the last stone must've really hurt. It's alright for us here saying 'you need to bin that and get over it for the next game' but it's very hard to do that. But Jen (Dodds) and Bruce (Mouat) are so professional and they would've wanted to give their all in today's game but sometimes in sport that just doesn't happen and they tried their hardest out there but they weren't getting results.

Oscar Eriksson is such an experienced player and he just helped Almida de Val play the shots and encouraged her and they were a great duo today. That's not what we wanted to happen but GB have had a good week and put in great performances, just pretty gutted they didn't come out with a medal.

    Women's sprint qualification

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Zhangjiakou

I'm back at the cross-country today for the men's and women's sprint free.

This event is held over a distance of 1.5km, and starts with a time trial. Around 90 competitors take part, setting off 15 seconds apart, with the top 30 progressing to the quarter-finals.

From the quarter-finals (five heats of six athletes), the top two in each heat, plus the next two fastest overall, move through to the semis.

The first two in each semi-final, plus the next two fastest athletes, qualify for the final.

    Got it?

The women's qualification has just got underway, with the men's version - featuring Brits Andrew Young and James Clugnet - to follow at 08:50 GMT.

He's the first athlete to complete that set in any snowboard discipline. Karl, the 36-year-old Austrian - that was just incredible. The lead changed hands so many times but Karl just kept taking risks with the line.

The question is, when she puts her skis on what will she do in the Super-G and the downhill?

  15. 'It's hard to fight back when your opposition is playing that well'published at 07:35 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2022

Mixed doubles bronze-medal match: Sweden 9-3 GB (after six ends)

GB's Bruce Mouat speaking on BBC One: "It got off to a bad start and that punished us the most and we had to fight back from there. Almida [de Val] made a really good shot for four which fair play to her in such a game to make those shots I bet it's a great feeling for her. We're going to have to console ourselves because we're got a big week with both of our teams. We're both ready for that but, it's a quick turnaround for tomorrow anyway."

Jen Dodds: "I don't think either of them made a mistake - the only thing I can think of is that Oscar [Eriksson] made that run back at the end and that was it. It's hard to fight back when your opposition is playing that well. Congratulations to them for winning the bronze they played amazing today."

Mouat: "The biggest thing I will take away is that we are able to achieve great things when we come onto such a big stage like the Olympics. The fact we had to grind through the round-robin and we made it through to the play-offs is going to be a really proud achievement for me and Jen. And I'm really proud of how we dealt with yesterday and came into this morning. We were obviously disappointed last night but we felt we were in a good spot to win that bronze, so we're just going to have to rebound as quickly as possible because both of us have really big weeks next week."

Dodds: "We can feed back what the ice is like - its tendencies and things like that - it might be slightly different in a four-person game but I can't see it being massively different. The stones are going to be different for next week so our information there is irrelevant but we can give an assessment on the ice and each sheet - there is nuances that could help us."
