A big race now - some absolutely heavy hitters

Charlotte was in the back seat there - she's going to have lost a lot of speed.

    Look at the speed!

I don't that she's going to do this. All the form, all the board speed, and she could not make it pay.

  3. Bankes out in the quarter-finalspublished at 07:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

Britain's Charlotte Bankes is only third in the quarter-final and the world champion is out!

She was second at the first timing point, in the lead at the second, but she can't hold on. Canada's Tess Critchlow wins by 0.01 seconds ahead of Australia's Belle Brockhoff with Bankes 0.08 seconds further back in third and America's Faye Gulini fourth.

Britain's wait for a medal at Beijing 2022 goes on.

Charlotte Bankes again goes in the last of the quarter-finals, again in the red bib. Her opponents are Belle Brockhoff of Australia (blue bib), Faye Gulini of the United States (green bib) and Tess Critchlow of Canada (yellow bib).

It's fast and frantic. You finish, you get back to the start and go again.

    Women's snowboard cross 1/8 final

Decent start for Charlotte Bankes - brilliant transition and generated a lot of speed.

Belle Brockhoff is all over Bankes and the last thing these two want is to take each other out.

Bankes moves across to close the door on her. Absolutely blistering snowboarder.

It does look that they have made the course a little less kicky - the course last time was crazy and there were a lot of bad injuries.

It's a long course with lots of rolls, and the legs will be burning.

It's a good course for passing - the longer the course the better chance you have of getting into a good position.

Vendula Hopjakova of the Czech Republic falls in the seventh of the women's snowboard cross heats and just like that, her dreams are over.

She looks in some difficulty too after landing badly on her arm.

Britain's Charlotte Bankes goes in the final heat, but nothing will happen until Hopjakova receives medical treatment. Hopefully she's OK.

This weather is moving in very quickly - perfect during the women's halfpipe qualification and deterioted in the men's. This sport is a cross between moto-cross racing...and UFC!

So tight on this course, and red bib means the number one seed.

Don't do anything stupid, and just put down a run. The toe-edge catch is brutal. The dignity-stripper.
