    Ice hockey: Finland 4-2 Slovakia

Power play to Finland threatens to stall Slovakia's momentum. Tomas Jurco is the culprit, being penalised for tripping.

But Slovakia dig in to see out the two minutes without conceding. Finland didn't even manage a shot.

Back to six of one and half a dozen of the other.

  2. Slovakia pull goal backpublished at 09:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

    Ice hockey: Finland 4-2 Slovakia

Hang on! Slovakia perhaps aren't Finnished! (Sorry to use this gag again, but it is necessary.)

Juraj Slafkovsky, Slovakia's 17-year-old prodigy, shows again why he is going to be courted by NHL sides with another slick finish.

That's his second of the match and gives hopes to the ninth-ranked Slovaks.

  3. 'Can see why Finland are favourites for gold'published at 09:49 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

    Ice hockey: Finland 4-1 Slovakia

    Seth Bennett
    Commentator on BBC TV

This line from Finland has been a handful for the Slovakian team.

Manninen with some space for his second of the game.

Konrad is beaten again and Finland are so razor sharp, you see why they are favourites for the gold.

  4. Finland extend leadpublished at 09:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

    Ice hockey: Finland 4-1 Slovakia

Finland are coasting now. Sakari Manninen bags his second goal of his nation's opening Group C prelim match, holding off a Slovak challenge - and his nerve - to slide in the fourth.

A long way to go in the round robin, of course, but a victory here gives Finland the perfect start.

Group winners go directly through to the quarter-finals.

  5. Postpublished at 09:44 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

    Ice hockey: Finland 3-1 Slovakia

Slovakia have a numerical advantage as Finland's Leo Komarov goes into icy clink for unfairly whacking the opposing goalkeeper.

Konarov claims he was pushed into the keeper, but it doesn't wash with the ref.

Two minutes is the stretch, but Slovakia can't make the most of it.

    Men's figure skating

While the ice hockey lads have a breather, we're treated to a rerun of Nathan Chen's success in the men's Olympic figure skating on the Red Button.

The relief was clear for the 22-year-old American, who finally won the gold which he was expected to claim in 2018.

It was redemption for Chen after nerves destroyed his jumps when he was the favourite four years ago.

"It means the world. I'm just so happy," Chen said. "It's a whirlwind right now. I had a blast out there."

Read and watch how Chen ended his four years of hurt.

    Ice hockey: Finland 3-1 Slovakia

    Kent Simpson

    Men's Alpine combined

Eyes closed tightly, tonsils visible mid-roar. That's what winning an Olympic gold medal meant to Austria's Johannes Strolz.

Victory in the men's Alpine combined meant it is the second bit of Winters bling in the family. Strolz's father Hubert also won the same discipline at the Calgary Games in 1988.

Watch below how Strolz Jr did it.

  14. Finland take the leadpublished at 09:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

    Ice hockey: Finland 2-1 Slovakia

Finland are clicking into gear now. Valtteri Filppula slices open the Slovakian defence with an incisive pass to Miro Aaltonen, who plays across for Harri Pesonen to hammer in from close range.

This is a Group C preliminary round match, by the way, with both nations playing their opening matches of the Games.

Earlier, fourth-ranked Sweden won 3-2 against Latvia, who are the lowest-ranked side in this group.

  15. 'I feel at home with the boys' - Mouatpublished at 08:59 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-5 Italy

    BBC Sport

Let's hear from the team, who were talking to BBC Sport after winning their first round-robin match against Italy:

Bruce Mouat: "I was looking forward to the team getting to experience it. We

didn't have the best of starts but this is where I feel at home with boys."

Grant Hardie: "Italy are a very good team and we knew we'd get our chances in the second half, and control it coming home."

Bobby Lammie: "Feel pretty controlled out there, especially in the second half."

Hammy McMillan: "Nice to be out there eventually - not by best start to the game but finished really strong with a decent second half performance.

"Good turnaround in the second half."

How hard was it to come back against Italy, given their gold medal a couple of days ago in the mixed:

Mouat: "Very imprtant to get the momentum going in the first few games. These boys have won European medals before and these boys know how to perform."

    Ice hockey: Finland 1-1 Slovakia

Let's pop into the National Indoor Stadium, which is nicknamed 'The Fan'. Why is it known as that? Because its design resembles a traditional Chinese folding fan.

Things are already heating up in the arena, where the men's ice hockey is back under way.

Finland, the world champions in 2019 and seeded third, were trailing to Slovakia after an early goal.

But Finland have found their stride and just levelled through Sakari Manninen.

It's all over to the sweepers now. Just gets it far enough and it is a score of one in this 10th end.

GB moving through the gears in this second half of a tense game. Looking every bit the European champions that they are.

Just enough scrub on that final stone.

Bruce Mouat's final effort kisses the button, an inch or so closer to the bullseye than Italy managed.

That is enough for another point and victory. But Italy pushed them hard all the way.

Curling - Great Britain 6-5 Italy (after nine ends)

    Logan Gray
Former Scottish curler on BBC TV

Absolutely perfect from Grant Hardie - just pinched enough from that second one to roll the stone to the side.

Wide open - that's exactly what GB wanted.
