The International Testing Agency has confirmed teenage Russian Olympic Committee figure skater Kamila Valieva failed a drugs test in December.

The 15-year-old was part of the team which claimed figure skating gold on Monday but the medals were not awarded because of a "legal issue".

The Russian Anti-doping Agency lifted her suspension, enabling her to compete at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

But the International Olympic Committee has now appealed against that decision.

We're at the halfway point in this event and it's looking good for leader Lara Gut-Behrami.

Looking down the list of the rest of the field, it's hard to see many names who are likely to challenge her.

But it doesn't mean it's not a nervous wait.

An emotional Shaun White has been speaking to the press following his final competition:

"It's been a journey, I'm just so happy, and thank you all from the bottom of my heart," he said.

"A lot of emotions are hitting me right now, the cheering from the crowd, some kind words from my fellow competitors at the bottom, I'm so happy.

"Snowboarding, thank you. It's been the love of my life.

"It's been a journey. I can't wait to see where this sport goes."

Every game is going to be down to the wire.

There’s another game in front of Great Britain so lets hope they can re-focus and bring their A-game.

That is a really tough game to lose. I felt we were getting more confident as we got to the latter part of the game.

The ninth end lost it for us. They tried to play a very offensive, aggressive game and if you are going to do that you must make sure your shot execution is on point.

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA (after nine of 10 ends)

    Steve Cram

It’s really frustrating for Great Britain because after the halfway mark they came out and looked like they were playing well and starting to dominate.

  8. USA win 9-7published at 03:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA (result)

And that's the match. USA win it as John Shuster clears out the penultimate red stone. Britain won yesterday against Italy, but they lose against the reigning Olympic holders.

Alice Robinson demolished that control gate but she is OK, picked herself up and skiied down on her own steam.

A disappointing Olympics for the New Zealander.

There are now no red stones in the house. They only have two stones left and have to hope the USA produce a massive mistake and then miss that one.

Reigning holders USA on the verge of a win here.

Looking very difficult for Britain to get two from here given how open the house is.

    The USA have been excellent.

  12. Postpublished at 03:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Chris Plys plays bumper stones and takes one of the two red stones out of the house. Britain need two to force an extra end. They've only got three chances left.

Steve Cram's not optimistic, "they need a mistake," he says.

  13. 'They don't get the respect they deserve'published at 03:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA (after nine of 10 ends)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

Unfortunately for USA, because they’ve got some strong and strange characters in their squad, they don’t quite get the respect they probably deserve.

They are a really strong team.

There’s nobody out there that doesn’t believe they can’t go all the way.

Anguished looks on British faces. USA with three stones at the front of the house, GB do have the hammer though.

Four stones remaining for the Brits.

Alice Robinson just took a massive tumble down the hill.

The New Zealander is back on her feet and is skiing down unaided, which is a relief to everyone watching on as it really was quite a big fall.

When she does get down the bottom she takes her skis off and then seems to be limping a bit.

  16. Postpublished at 03:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA

It's a wasted stone for Great Britain as it's far too short. Trailing by two into the final end, they can't afford to do that.

GB have six stones left and are on the brink of defeat.

Great Britain got away with that one there, I thought it could have been four but USA have come away with two.

It gives Britain a chance in the final end.

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA

A sigh of relief as John Shuster makes just two.

Still, GB need two in the last to force an extra end. Pressure on.

  19. USA lead by two with one end to gopublished at 03:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-9 USA

Shuster thought he could get four, but instead it is just two for the United States, who now lead 9-7 going into the final end.

Great Britain have the hammer and will go last in end number 10, but they need something special to rescue this one.

  20. Postpublished at 03:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

With one stone left for the Americans in the ninth end, "I can make this for four" says US skip John Shuster.

Not what British fans want to here.
