After two huge disappointments in the slalom and giant slalom, where she skied out both times after just a few gates, American Mikaela Shiffrin will return to the Yanqing slopes for the super-G shortly.

After Wednesday's slalom, she had cast doubt over whether she would even compete again at these Games but she's back and she has said she's grateful to have the chance to go again.

The American, who will go off 11th out of 44 athletes, has been out inspecting the course this morning. Racing starts at 03:00 GMT.

    Men's halfpipe final

A double 1440 from Ayumu Hirano. He's done it, a score of 96.00. Wow!

The Japanese competitor came second in 2014, second again in 2018 but grabs gold with some absolutely incredible skills.

Australia's Scotty James gets bumped down to second, with Switzerland's Jan Scherrer taking bronze. American legend Shaun White finishes fourth.

Now it's Ayumu Hirano, he's been silver in the past two Games. He's in that position. Can he improve?

    Men's halfpipe final

No improvement from Scotty James, but the Australian still leads and could well become an Olympic champion. He watches on nervously.

He won a bronze four years ago in Pyeongchang and he's guaranteed at least silver now.

A BIG steal of two for GB. That was a brilliantly constructed end. Making sure they had counters in there, and sealing off the paths into the button. John Shuster was left with no take out options either.

A good turnaround from Mouat and co.

It’s been a rollercoaster through the years.

This has been Shaun White's life for 16 years, he has lived the Olympic cycle – learning to peak at exactly the right moment.

He signs off his Olympic career in fourth place.

  9. GB steal two to leadpublished at 02:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 6-5 USA (after six ends)

Bruce Mouat elects to go for an extra guard and there are now five stones out front of the house, protecting the two British counters that are right in the centre of the scoring zone.

What does John Shuster do? He's trying a tricky one - nudging his yellow back on to another yellow and then to knock out the British stones.

He doesn't play that with much weight or conviction though and that is huge for GB.

Defending champion Ester Ledecka is going for history in this race.

Four years ago the Czech won snowboard giant slalom and the alpine skiing super G - this year she has already defended the snowboard title so now is her chance for an unprecedented multi-sport double-double.

Led means 'ice' in Czech - with a surname like her, she was always destined to be great at winter sports!

NO! Shaun White falls on the final run of his career. There will be no final Olympic medal for him.

He's applauded as he makes his way down the rest of the pipe, and looks really very emotional.

    Men's halfpipe final

There's no Hollywood ending for Shaun White as he can't nail a 1440 move and there's no medal for him.

The helmet is off, he understandably looks so disappointed but gets a hugely-deserved round of applause.

Three gold medals in his career for the 35-year-old. Fourth place, not fourth gold, is going to be the best he can do today.

    A legend leaves.

Curling - Great Britain 4-5 USA (after five ends)

John Shuster is having lengthy discussions with his team-mates over how he gets out of this situation without Britain stealing at least one.

He's trying to use his own yellow stones to nudge the British counters out of the way. But he's not giving that enough of a shove and no amount of sweeping is going to get him close.

Bruce Mouat is now wondering if he can get three counters, or try to defend what he's got and steal two...

First run 75.75, second run 79.75 and that's the same score as his third.

He's in sixth as it stands, but will have many, many chances to compete at the Olympics in his career.

The British boys are building a good end after the halfway break. They have two counters with plenty of guarding stones as Chris Plys comes down with big weight as the US look to wrestle back control.

He takes one out but GB are still lying shot with just the skips to throw. Can Bruce Mouat keep up the pressure?
