    Matt Chilton
    Commentator on BBC TV

No luck for Mikaela Shiffrin but at least she has finished, her confidence will be improving.

At least she has made it to the foot of the mountain and is on the leaderboard, albeit down in eighth.

An error from Bruce Mouat, at a really bad time. "It's a wee bit light," he says, but actually it is very much light.

USA with a chance to grab this match now.

Two stones each and the Americans like what they are seeing from Chris Plys, who gets a "great shot Chris" gee-up from his team.

Britain needed two good final stones in this end. This could be a decisive few moments in the match.

Britain have one on the button, but America then bump it out of the action. Britain don't want a blank end in this one as that would mean America retain the hammer for the crucial final end.

Mikaela Shiffrin has finished the course!

A big sigh of relief from her at the bottom and big smiles. It doesn't matter that she's sitting in eighth - she has completed her first race at these Games after those two DNFs.

Curling - Great Britain 7-7 USA

We've got two ends to go and crucially Britain could well have the hammer in the final end.

Can Bruce Mouat and the rest of the British quartet make it two wins from two after beginning with a 7-5 win over Italy yesterday.

This could well go down to the final stone of the final end.

That was well played by USA, they went for the glory shot and they got the result.

  8. GB back levelpublished at 03:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 7-7 USA (after eight ends)

Great play by John Shuster at the end. He hits a British stone at the perfect angle to spark a chain reaction that results in the removal of a counting GB red, and Bruce Mouat's final stone couldn't quite curl in. It's a one for Britain.

We're all square with two ends left. As it stands, GB will have the hammer in the last end.

Lara Gut-Behrami has just put in a stunning run to go top of the standings.

The Swiss is the super-G world champion - she'll be hoping she can change the statistic that a reigning world champion has never won gold in the women's Olympic super-G.

A timeout for the US here as they ponder what to do next.

John Shuster was saying: 'Should I just hit it on the nose?'. The thinking being it'll force GB to just take one.

Curling - Great Britain 6-7 USA (after seven ends)

Bobby Lammie is on take-out duty again and he executes his shot perfectly, taking out two US stones and leaving the house wide open.

But the US are perhaps edging this end. GB lie shot, but three US stones are also in the house.

US skip John Shuster is trying to play a delicate one to just in front of the centre to stop Bruce Mouat from having a chance of drawing a shot in there to lie two. Another perfect stone from Shuster.

But what a response from Mouat. His stone grazes Shuster's to stop it curling in behind but he still lies two. One stone each left...

It wasn't to be for Scotty James. Bronze in 2018, silver in 2022 and he's only 27 so can bid for gold in Milan and Cortina in Italy in four years' time.

A mistake from Bruce Mouat there, he's left a red stone peeking out from behind its guard.

John Shuster does the business and knocks it out for two. Disappointing for GB as that end was in their control.

Curling - Great Britain 6-7 USA (after seven ends)

John Shuster makes the last stone count as Britain let slip a promising position in the seventh end.

The US skip draws into the centre, nudging back a British stone, to claim two and the lead.

Ester Ledecka absolutely flew down there! She's put down a marker of 1:13.94.

The defending champion's bid for a double-double looks good at the moment.

She was only the second athlete to go so has a long wait to find out if it was good enough.

What a shot from Bobby Lammie. The Scottish curler, who turned 25 yesterday, throws some serious weight and gets a little fortunate as the yellow US stones in the house are spent spinning.

Lammie has a look on his face that suggests he knows that was a little fortunate.

But then the US get a stroke of luck, with Chris Plys' effort knocking a couple of GB stones out, via a fortuitous take out of two guarding stones.

An open end though - GB lie two with just the two stones from each skip to come. US have last-stone advantage.
