Look, I know it's disappointing but we're still brothers and sisters on this night shift and if we stick together - like good teams do - then who knows, we may find that medal by the time breakfast is done and dusted.

  4. GB go closepublished at 03:00 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2022

Off goes Charlotte Bankes, a slow start, she's 3.65 seconds off the lead but the front two are not giving an inch here and Great Britain in third are really struggling with two turns left to navigate.

It'll be too much. Bankes is closing but she is 1.38 seconds off the mark needed.

It was fun while it lasted.

Charlotte Bankes had so much to make up. She came out of the gate right at the back. She didn’t panic, she stayed calm.

She went between every single athlete, it was so narrow that space and she was overtaking the other athletes in the air.

It really shows she is good tactically, she is good at choosing the line and she will feel really good with that.

And Huw Nightingale, he held it together knowing he had to finish this race.

Lindsey Jacobellis will compete for USA on leg two here so they'll feel good. There's nothing in these races now and so much can go wrong...

What a race that was! Unbelievable.

You have to give a lot of credit to Huw Nightingale – he was in the backseat but he kept the team in contention.

    It was a great quarter-final.
