  1. GB Women in semi-final action later todaypublished at 07:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

Sweden v Great Britain (12:05 GMT)

From a British perspective, this is only the warm-up act for the main curling intrigue of the day.

A 9-4 victory for Great Britain's women over ROC yesterday, combined with defeats for Japan and South Korea, ensured they qualified for the semi-finals. They will play defending champions Sweden at 12:05 GMT today.

  2. United States pull aheadpublished at 07:36 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

Bronze-medal match: Canada 4-5 USA (after six ends)

The United States make better use of the hammer. Two points from the sixth end put them out in front on the home straight.

John Shuster cracks a smile and hollers in delight.

    Men's ski cross final

    Ed Leigh
    Snowboarding commentator on BBC TV

    Ryan Regez takes gold.

It looks like disbelief from Regez, his eyes are sparkling.

He couldn’t believe he was so far in front.

    Men's ski cross final

It's a Switzerland one-two as Ryan Regez hits the front early on and stays there for the rest of the race to become Olympic champion.

Alex Fiva, who won the World Championships in 2021, takes silver, while Russian Sergey Ridzik picks up the bronze - just as he did four years ago in Pyeongchang.

    Well, well, well.

Canada score a point, but that was not what they wanted.

They were hoping to instead blank the end and keep the hammer through to the otherside of the interval.

But skip Brad Gushue catches the US stone too straight. The American rock is shunted out of the circle, but his stubbornly stays stuck in the circle.

Canada score one. But the United States will have the last-stone advantage in the sixth end.

  6. 'Anything can happen'published at 07:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

    Men's ski cross final

    Ed Drake
Olympic alpine skier and ski cross racer on BBC TV

It can be anybody’s race. There’s so much experience so none of them are newbies.

It’s going to be hell for leather, they’re going to pull out of the gates as hard as possible and anything can happen.

It’s going to get messy because once every four years you’ve got one shot to win Olympic gold.

There’s someone there who’s is going home without a medal.

Erik Mobaerg, the Swede who came third in last year's World Championships, advances to the final, as does Ryan Regez of Switzerland

They join reigning world champion Alex Fiva (Switzerland) and Sergey Ridzik (ROC) in the final, meaning Switzerland are guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

Bronze-medal match: Canada 3-3 USA (after four ends)

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

It’s all tied up after four ends.

We were hoping for a good match, we were a bit worried USA would be suffering a reaction to last night’s defeat against Great Britain.

But they’ve got their game going now.

  9. USA level up their bronze-medal matchpublished at 07:04 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

John Shuster floats down his final stone. Minimal scrub from his team-mates. Maximum accuracy and weight from the USA skip.

That bags two for the Americans and levels up the scoreline. Onwards!

  10. Olympic champion Leman out in semi-finalspublished at 07:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

    Men's ski cross

In a thrilling first semi-final, all four had the lead at some stage, but in the end world champion Alex Fiva of Switzerland wins it with Sergey Ridzik of the Russian Olympic Committee second.

That means Canada's Brady Leman, who won the gold medal at the 2018 Olympics, has relinquished his title and will not be in the final.

Canada's Brad Gushue with the final stone of the third end....

It's a doozie. It secures his team a point from the end. Maybe less than par considering his team had the hammer in that one.

The small crowd break into a chorus of We Will Rock You, complete with synchronised handclaps.

  15. Davies out of men's ski crosspublished at 06:32 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2022

    Men's ski cross 1/8 finals

This is the first time Great Britain have had anyone in the men's ski cross, with Ollie Davies in the final heat.

But Davies can't advance into the quarter-finals as he finishes fourth.

He had dropped to the back early on, did well to catch up with the pack, but could not finish in the top two as Russian Igor Omelin wins the heat, with Canada's Kevin Drury - a finalist four years ago - coming second.

Never enough Maple Leaves for the Canadian team kit designers are there?

Anyway, it is working for them so far.

Canada's skip Bard Gushue is a tough cookie by the way. He suffered a concussion after an on-ice fall during a televised game. He went to hospital to receive stitches and returned to finish the game, which they lost.

It is going to be a noisy one in the Ice Cube.

Canada, gold medallists in Sochi, and the United States, gold medallists in Pyeongchang, both like to play a high-decibel match.

You may remember American skip John Shuster from his team's defeat by Great Britain yesterday.

We are into the first end.
