Women's semi-final: Sweden 4-3 Great Britain (after two ends)

Nope! Swedish skip Hasselborg hits another head on.

Now then... Britain have the chance to pull back the deficit from that nightmare opening end.

"Clean!" barks Eve Muirhead. Think she likes it... yes! Yes, she does. The British skip knocks out the Swedish stone and that's three back for Team GB.

    Women's semi-final: Sweden 4-0 Great Britain

"Good shot!" shouts one of the British girls.

Muirhead takes out the Swedish stone to leave three British stones in the house.

But the angles mean Hasselborg has another chance for a double or, dare I say, triple take-out...

Andrew Priestley: GB up against it from the start, but a long way to go. Now they can attack which might suit them better.

Neil Roby: What a disastrous start to the curling 4-0 down after the first end to the Olympic champions

We are minutes away from Montell Douglas making history. She will become the first British woman to compete in both the summer and winter Olympics Games as brakewoman in Mica McNeill's sled.

Douglas actually went to Pyeongchang but as an alternate and didn't race with McNeill.

McNeill was eighth in this event at Pyeongchang and finished in the same spot at the 2020 world championships.

    Women's semi-final: Sweden 4-0 Great Britain

Britain are well placed here. They have three yellow stones in the target-zone.

Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg goes for a double hit, but runs head on into the British stone on the right.

Eve Muirhead launches the British penultimate stone...

Tension and concern is etched across the British faces on the rink.

Sweden have another red stone in the house, before that is skittled out by Sarah McManus.

    Chance for Britain?

The British support in the stands falls quiet after that opening end.

Four in one end doesn't happen very often, never mind in an Olympic semi-final.

Already it's a long way back against a team of this quality.

    Steve Cram

Any match is not over in the first couple of ends, but to give four away in the first end to a team as good as Sweden they are going to have to be patient now. Take two in the next and chip away in the rest.

Forget and focus. That's all Britain can do as they start the second end. That first end? Never happened.

    Women's semi-final: Sweden 4-0 Great Britain

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

Often the ice changes as we get to the play off stages. There's not as many people on the ice, the temperature changes.

The stones curl more and the teams have to be aware this happens.

    Steve Cram

One of the things that will be different from when the sides met in the round robin is the ice. It really has changed, particularly in the last couple of days. So that could be a factor.

But it's a new competition now. GB first played Sweden very early, neither team had really settled down.

Women's semi-final: Sweden 4-0 Great Britain (after one end)

    Nightmare start for Team GB.

Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg - game face on - eases down her final stone, drawing it round into the front of the house.

    Four-some.

Positives for the Brits? There are nine ends left.

Germany's Laura Nolte is still surviving at the top of the standings as defending champion Mariama Jamanka comes close, but not quite close enough, 0.06 seconds off Nolte's run.

Jamanka had a tough time in the monobob earlier in the Games, coming down in 13th.

Great Britain with the hammer in the next end, there's every chance they can reply with two but don't give up three here.

Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg puts the penultimate stone level with another red one at the front of the house. Good shot.

Sweden have a chance of scoring three...

What's Eve Muirhead got up her sleeve? Ah. Not an ace. The final British stone falls short of the house.

You don't lose curling matches in the first two ends but you don't want to give yourself an upstream struggle.

Sensational! Britain's Vicky Wright takes full advantage in the next shot, taking out a couple of Swedish stones. Suddenly the opening-end scene looks slightly rosier for the British team.

"Nej! Nej! Nej!!" shouts Sweden's Sarah McManus.

You don't need a 'How to speak basic Swedish' book to understand that one.

She's not happy with the fourth-from-last stone, hitting the British one too heavy on the nose.
