When Michael Dunlop launched that bike, he launched it with intent.

He didn't launch it to just take the lead but to take the lead, pull away and keep himself safe.

Here's a reminder of your Superstock grid. Alastair Seeley doesn't seem to be on the grid after his bike pulled up in the Superbike race, so there will be a gap there.

Both Davey Todd and Richard Cooper were expecting to win that Supersport race. As the top eight all were trying to win, that's why we go racing.

I am gong to say Davey will be pretty fired up for this one. I think his co-team-manager Peter Hickman is going to be in with a shot as well.

Davey Todd battled through mechanical issues to set the fastest time in Superstock qualifying at the North West 200.

Todd missed the opening half of the hour-long session with an issue on his BMW, but posted the fastest time on his final flying lap around the 8.9 mile Triangle Circuit.

Alastair Seeley, returning to the event after missing 2024, was half a second off Todd in second after leading the majority of the session.

Peter Hickman was third for 8Ten Racing, while Dean Harrison and home favourite Michael Dunlop rounded out the top five.

Dunlop had a high side coming out of the Magherabuoy chicane towards the end of the session but got out in the Supersport and Superbike sessions at the end of the day.

Just like in the Supertwins, which opened Thursday's running, the Superstocks had one session to qualify after the disrupted day of action due to red flags on Wednesday.

    Michael Dunlop wins Supersport race

Davey Todd, who finished third, speaking on BBC iPlayer: "It's not what I wanted. I fought for the win and gave it everything I had. I tired my best but it's hard against some of those bikes. When that Ducati came past I couldn't even get in the slip stream. I have to give it up to the whole Padgett's team, they put a good bike underneath me and I'll see what I can do in the second race."

  18. 'I wasn't quite prepared for the speed Dunlop passed me'published at 19:21 British Summer Time 8 May

Michael Dunlop wins the Supersport race

Yamaha's Richard Cooper, who finished second, speaking on BBC iPlayer: "I felt that I had to be at the front at all times to keep my cards close to my chest as I didn't want to drop to the back.

"Only a four lap race, it isn't a long time around here. It felt like we were just getting going then.

"I could hear the big Ducati at the roundabout and a few other places so I knew he was there but I wasn't quite prepared for the speed it passed me into the McAvoy Chicane. Before I even got to the brakes really, it was quite something special and it almost felt like he was on a Superbike at that point."

"He rode fantastic and took advantage of the last lap.

"I really need to mention the boys who passed away at the weekend, particularly Shane Richardson. I worked with him.

"Hannah, Max and Maddy at home, I would have loved to win it for you, but hopefully second is good enough."
