Alastair Seeley sets up Supersport showdown with Easton

Alastair Seeley has closed the gap on British Supersport leader Stuart Easton despite being demoted from third to 10th at Silverstone on Sunday.

The Carrickfergus rider won Saturday's sprint race while Easton crashed out.

Seeley was punished after a collision with Jason O'Halloran in Sunday's feature race - he was docked 10 seconds which moved him down seven places.

Easton moved up to third but Seeley, who started the weekend 36 points adrift, is now just 19 behind.

The weekend action sets up a final round showdown at Brands Hatch in a fortnight.

Seeley had lost ground in recent rounds as he recovered from injury but he is now back to full fitness.

The Kawasaki rider took an early lead on Sunday and moved in front again with two laps remaining.

Seeley was able to continue after the collision O'Halloran with a lap remaining, but he came in behind winner Luke Mossey and Billy McConnell.

Race officials later blamed Seeley for the incident in which O'Halloran came off his machine and out of the race.

Glenn Irwin was eighth and seventh while Marshall Neill was 11th in both races.
