Pollution in the River Seine has forced the cancellation of Sunday's proposed swimming training for Olympic triathletes in Paris.

A joint statement from Paris 2024 and World Triathlon said that tests had shown the water quality was below an acceptable standard.

After tests in July, the River Seine was deemed to be clean enough for swimming but heavy rain in the French capital over the past 48 hours has seen the quality diminish.

"The priority is the health of the athletes," the statement read.

The triathlon is due to start on 30 July provided water quality in the Seine is of the required standard.

Evans thought about Murray while 'rolling on clay'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 28 July

    Men's tennis

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

I spoke to Dan Evans in the mixed zone a little earlier about his rollercoaster first-round win - and, most importantly, his fitness.

Evans, who is playing in his first Olympics aged 34, fell over in the second set of his win against Tunisia's Moez Echargui. Blood streamed from his knee but, more worryingly, he needed treatment on his wrist and back.

Tonight he is playing in the men's doubles with Andy Murray - who is retiring after the event - and Evans feared the worst.

"I took a tumble and winded myself a bit. I am just a bit sore at the minute, so I will go and get checked out and then jump in the ice bath," he said.

On whether he feared it could impact the doubles, he added: "I was concerned about it for that whole match.

"I do not want to be the one that is pulling out on him. We agreed it was doubles first this week and when I was rolling on the clay, that is what was going through my head."

If I was Murray I'd have been texting Evans as soon as he came off court to check he was OK, but Evans laughed that he hasn't had a message.

Rafael Nadal is the king of Roland Garros, having won the French Open 14 times.

Nadal and fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz defeated Argentine sixth seeds Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in the first round of the men's doubles on Saturday.

And it has been a quick turnaround for Nadal, who was unhappy with the schedule, calling it "outrageous", with his singles match with Marton Fucsovics of Hungary starting at 2pm on Sunday.

However, Nadal breezed through the opening set 6-1, but it is set to go to a decider with Fucsovics 5-2 ahead in the second.

Once again I'm on my travels at Concorde and this time I stumbled across the Poland 3x3 basketball team practising on the court they will take to on Tuesday, when the event gets under way.

The sport was new to the Olympics in Tokyo, proving to be a hugely popular addition and it looks like it will be no different in Paris.

Poland will take on hosts France in their opening pool match inside this magnificent arena, which will also host the breaking towards the end of the Games.

Tokyo champion Ricarda Funk shows she is going to take some stopping as she bids to defend her title in Paris.

The German flags are being waved around frantically in the stands as the 32-year-old storms down the course, narrowly edging Kimberley Woods’ impressive time to take top spot.

It very well could be Funk’s gold, brother.

But that may depend on Australia’s three-time Olympic K1 medalist and Tokyo C1 champion Jessica Fox, who is about to complete the semi-final action here.

Watching the skateboarders reminds me of the weebles. Not a young-person reference but we'll go with it.

They're all basically teenagers and they just have that no-fear thing where if they fall over they'll get back up and still have a big smile on their face.

And, they'll just give the trick another go in their next run.

No British interest in today's street event but it's not half whetting the appetite for the park events later in the week where Andy MacDonald, Lola Tambling and, of course, Sky Brown are in the mix.

Spectators can buy a ticket to the Place de la Concorde grounds, even if they don't have tickets to the actual events, and go and check out what else is going on.

A lot of lucky people have made their way over to the BMX park to have a look what's going on.

Penalty drama but GB still lead eventing competitionpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 28 July

Great Britain remain top of the team eventing standings after the cross country despite a jumping penalty against Ros Canter drastically reducing their lead.

Team GB are looking to defend their Olympic title for the first time since 1972 and looked well placed to do so after a flawless run from Tom McEwen on JL Dublin.

That was followed by Laura Collett suffering only a 0.8 penalty on London 52, and while that saw her drop to second in the individual standings - 0.5 behind Germany's Michael Jung - the British team were some way clear of their nearest rivals.

However, Canter was then given 15 jumping penalties to drop from sixth to 21st in the individual and cut Great Britain's lead to 4.7 over France.

The British team have asked for a review following Canter's penalties.
