Somehow Murray and Evans are in front again.

But it is fits and starts for the Brits. Just when you think they are starting to arrive and looking smoother, they just can't maintain that kind of form.

Dan Evans and Andy Murray are doing a better job of just trying to stop the heavy hitting of the Japanese pair. Phenomenal effort, just trying to get the ball back into play to create an opportunity for the Japanese to miss.

Taro Daniel has been surprisingly good out here. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from him - I have to say.

When you play with your country's flag on your back, it can either crush you or it can elevate you. But this is some of the best tennis I have seem him play in a long time.

These two Brits were never going to roll over, were they?

Both are battered and bruised physically after a rough couple of months, but mentally they will always dig in.

Murray, for what might be one of the final times, bears them gnashers and roars at the punters nearest to him.

The Brits in the crowd respond.

"Let's go GB, let's go!" rings around Court Suzanne Lenglen.

The only thing that is going to keep them in this set and give them a chance at the match tie-break is just to compete. It is as simple as that.

Luckily, Murray and Evans are as gritty as they come. These two have always got along really well actually, even though they are totally different.

As long as you can keep it to one break [of serve], you have a chance.
