Hopkin did a great job there. She might need to adjust it – I don’t know if she can. She might need to adjust that first 25m.

She just faded slightly and the Aussies came through, she was so far ahead – it is probably worth having a look if she can make that slight adjustment, to make the podium.

That was mustard from Anna Hopkin, she did exactly what she needed to do and there was no fear on that first length.

She took it to Shayna Jack and Mollie O'Callaghan [her Australian opponents].

    Really tough racing.

Jack Draper was unable to convert a set point in the ninth game and Taylor Fritz wriggles out of a tight spot.

Draper struggled earlier in his career during hot and humid conditions.

The British men's number one has worked hard on his physical durability and will be interested how he fares with temperatures already heading towards 30C.

Fritz, who grew up in South California, will have no issues.

Once temperatures top 30.1C on court, which can't be far off, the heat rule comes into effect.

That means the players can ask for a 10-minute break after the second set, which allows them to head inside to take a cold shower, change their clothes and refuel if they want.

Next up in Group A is Canada and Australia (12:30 BST).

    BBC Sport

Lucy Renshall was eliminated in the women's judo by an ex-GB opponent Lubjana Piovesana, and was talking to BBC Sport:

“Judo is such a cruel sport. The last 12 weeks have probably been the best 12 weeks of training I’ve done before. I felt like I had more to give."

How much did the first bout take out of you – almost twice the length with three minutes of golden score time:

“It wasn’t that exhausting. I felt good. I’ve been training for a fight like that. We’ve fought – that was our eighth time so we know each other really well and I had an idea it would go like that but I felt good afterwards."

Second bout – Piovesana used to be part of the British set-up:

“I think that’s what happens when you fight someone so regularly and you know someone so well, it’s quite a rubbish fight because you know each other so well. She was the better player on the day."

Do you feel you are able to find anything you’re proud of – hard when you have suffered that disappointment:

“Not really. I came here for a medal. We’ll see."

Great Britain's men are taking on the world's best side the Netherlands at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, seeking to continue their unbeaten start in Pool A.

They beat Spain 4-0 in their first match but needed a dramatic late goal to draw with South Africa 2-2 in their second game.

The top four sides from each pool of six go through to the quarter-finals and GB will also face Germany and France in the coming days.

Like everywhere else in Paris today, it's a scorching hot day for hockey.

Two rousing national anthems and we're under way.

    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

Jack Draper is the only Brit remaining in the Olympics singles and, as you can imagine, there is plenty of support here for the 22-year-old.

But support for Fritz is strong because there are sooooo many Americans in Paris. I put that down to Emily.

Still on serve in a first set of nip and tuck.

Draper raises a laugh from the crowd when he disputes a line call, with umpires still pointing to marks on the clay here rather than an electronic system.

"No, no, no, no ,no, no," he pleads.

The umpire, as always, wins that argument.

Carl Hester finishes with a score of 77.345%, which puts him in third after the first group of 10 riders has gone.

A reminder that the top 18 qualify for Sunday's indidvidual final, with the top-10 teams progressing to Saturday's team final.

There's still two groups to come today and another three tomorrow, which means Hester will have to wait to find out if he's done enough - but the experts around me are confident that he has.

Great Britain's Lucy Renshall has been eliminated in the women's Judo - 63kg event in the second round.

The 28-year-old was up against Austria's Lubjana Piovesana, who until 2021 was a GB athlete.

Renshall suffered a 1-0 defeat in golden score, after Piovesana landed a Waza-Ari takedown.

Renshall had earlier needed golden time to progress through round one, beating Australia's Katharina Haecker 11-1 via golden score, with Haecker disqualified after receiving three warnings.

How do the horses stay cool?published at 11:31 British Summer Time 30 July

Dressage grand prix individual and team qualifying

    Amy Lofthouse
    BBC Sport in Paris

For those of you wondering how the horses stay cool on such a hot day...

The FEI - equestrian's governing body - released an update a few days ago, external about how they ensure the horses are OK, with each stable having a state of the art cooling system installed.

When the horses have finished, they are taking into what looks like a massive dryer - like the ones you have at theme parks when you've just got off a water ride - and they're cooled down, with misting fans and plenty of water to hand.

  16. 'I wanted to try something different'published at 11:27 British Summer Time 30 July

Matt Richards, who qualified in a three-way tie for 13th in the men's 100m freestyle semi-finals, has been speaking to BBC Sport.

Did you think there might be a swim-off?: "When I saw the tied time I thought ‘this could be interesting’. Look we’re through and that’s all that matters. Last year at [the World Championships] I went fastest in the heats and fastest in the semis of the 100m free and missed out in the final by a couple of hundredths on the podium.

"I wanted to do something different this year, try to ease through the rounds a little bit more. The swim felt great, really smooth, a bit close for comfort again but we’re through and that’s all that matters."

Was Pan [Zhanle of China] playing a few games as well because he was close?: "Yeah he was probably thinking the same thing I was, so we’re all expecting that last heat to be the fastest one. Probably all of us in the middle were a little bit cagey and not sure when to go.

"Conserving as much energy as possible and so the same in the semi but a bit faster, and then the 4x200m is the big one today."
